The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) are starting to realize desperate times may indeed call for desperate measures.
Nikki knows Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is stubborn and that there’s basically no chance of him simply admitting he was wrong.
Victor needs a nudge if he’s going to reunite with Nikki and decide he’s willing to fix their marriage.
Meanwhile, Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) can’t get the image of Jack and Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) in bed together out of her head.
Although Diane wants to forgive Jack for his betrayal, she isn’t there yet and doesn’t know if she ever will be.
Jack is worried there’s no coming back from this, so it looks like he’s ready to try a last-resort tactic.
That brings us to the “nuclear option” that Jack and Nikki previously discussed.
During Nikki and Jack’s recent strategy session, they considered taking a page out of romance novels and cooking up a scheme to stir up jealousy in their spouses.
It’s a gamble for Jack and Nikki to fake a romance to provoke Diane and Victor, so they also considered the potential for catastrophe.
Jealousy is already a huge problem for Diane and Victor when it comes to Jack’s bond with Nikki.
Jack and Nikki run the risk of making things worse if they intentionally use that jealousy to get reactions out of their respective partners.
Of course, there could be another risk here as well since Nikki and Jack are exes who have remained close.
It’s possible that while faking a romantic turn, things could become more genuine than Jack and Nikki expected.
Nikki and Jack might struggle with some familiar feelings that bubble back up.
It could complicate things when it comes to Jack and Nikki’s plan if their faux romance becomes a real one!
Will Jack and Nikki’s plot pull them closer than they anticipated? Will the plan succeed in creating some marriage breakthroughs or just make a bigger mess?
Regardless, Nikki and Jack seem poised to put on a romantic charade that’s sure to get Victor and Diane’s attention.
