The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that fans got nervous when Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) suffered a heart attack that left her deathly ill.
For a moment there, it seemed like the show might actually kill Jill off, but the story shifted and put her on a better path.
Jill was stabilized enough to have the surgery she needed and thankfully pulled through.
Now Jill is recovering and could hopefully stick around for many years to come.
It’s obvious that the show’s been struggling with some scheduling issues when it comes to Jess Walton.
Lauren Koslow (who also portrays Kate Roberts Brady on Days of Our Lives) temporarily played Jill for a few episodes earlier this year, but the role still belongs to Walton if she wants it.
Jill was off-screen for this medical crisis storyline, but maybe she could return for real down the road.
Once Jill recovers, we can think of at least three reasons for Walton’s big comeback.
1) Jill needs to meet new granddaughter
For starters, Jill needs to meet little Ruby Spectra-Abbott and bond with her.
Now that Jill has this new grandbaby, she deserves a chance to hold her on-screen and share that special connection.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) wants Jill to have that opportunity despite the past problems in their relationship.
Jill’s illness has softened Billy a bit, but Ruby could continue to bring them together.
2) Jill is still keeping secrets that need to be revealed
Of course, there are also aspects of the Chancellor story that remain unfinished.
Billy still hasn’t heard Jill’s version of events regarding the loan that was never paid back to John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).
Jill was certainly eager to keep things buried from Billy, but Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) suspect there was more going on.
It seems like Jill might be hiding something else, so she needs to make a real return and spill more revelations.
3) Jess Walton’s 40th Y&R anniversary is coming up
Plus, Walton has a huge milestone on the way in 2027 since that’ll mark 40 years since her debut as Jill.
The show previously hinted about plans to honor Walton, so perhaps they can convince her to finally make an on-screen comeback.
