The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that some cast changes and exits are happening behind the scenes, including one involving the character of Holden Novak.
It looks like Nathan Owens has been quietly dropped from the cast list, so it seems safe to assume he’s off the show.
Of course, the writing’s been on the wall since Holden suddenly disappeared from the canvas.
Y&R offered an excuse to keep Holden off-screen since he’s currently spending some time in London with his bio dad, Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore).
However, there are rumblings that Curtis Washington may be taking over the role once Holden returns from his trip.
Holden is still needed for some big storylines, so it makes sense to have him around in some form.
Even if that means a new actor has to take over, soap fans know that recasts are necessary sometimes.
Holden deserves a chance to react to confirmation that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) are dating.
After all, Stephanie and Nate recently rehearsed how that conversation might go!
Holden is also romantically involved with Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), so it’d be weird if he abruptly broke things off and bailed on her.
Claire is going to need Holden’s support once she finds out about Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) connection.
Plus, there’s the matter of Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) potential cancer crisis, which her new half-brother needs to be around for.
Lily is keeping a lid on her scare at the moment, but she may lean on Holden once she eventually comes clean.
There are still plenty of ways for Holden to be useful in Genoa City, so Curtis Washington may swap in for Nathan Owens and make sure the character sticks around.
That said, Owens will no doubt be missed by many in the role.
Although Nathan Owens brought some unique charm to Holden, Curtis Washington will have an opportunity to make the role his own if he’s indeed taking over.
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest this Holden switch could be playing out on-screen in the very near future, so stick with us for more news on the actor swap.
