The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) could make another mess for Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).
Matt is already living a pretty complicated life since he’s being forced to manipulate Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) as a way to prove himself for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and his family.
Since Matt owes the Newmans big time for all the horrible crimes he’s committed, he’s reluctantly going along with Victor’s sneaky plan.
Matt can avoid prison if he spies on Cane and reports back to Victor, but he’s understandably uneasy about all this.
Although Matt wants to turn from his wicked ways, Victor is putting him in risky territory.
Of course, Victor has assured Matt that he won’t have to do any physical damage, but Matt still knows he’s part of a revenge plot.
Phyllis is probably going to figure that out too once she notices Matt trying to become Cane’s best bud.
Y&R fans know Cane and Phyllis aren’t on good terms anymore, but she still feels something for Matt.
Phyllis has clearly been battling some guilt for selling Matt out to the Newmans, so she may feel the need to make things right somehow.
Once Phyllis starts investigating, she may put it together that Matt is stuck doing Victor’s dirty work.
Phyllis knows that Matt truly wants to improve his life, so we could certainly imagine her trying to sabotage Victor’s scheme.
Perhaps Phyllis will warn Cane that Victor is up to his usual tricks and using Matt for spy games.
Phyllis might hope that if she can put a stop to Victor’s manipulation, she can save Matt from heading down another sinister road.
However, Phyllis’ efforts to rescue Matt from doing Victor’s bidding could backfire.
If Cane retaliates and Victor blames Matt for botching the plot, there could be major trouble.
Phyllis may think she’s helping to free Matt from Victor’s grasp, but she could leave him stuck in an even worse jam instead!
