On tonight’s Tracker episode, Otto may have killed him, but Ashton Shaw was no saint. He worked for the government for a time. He did their dirty work. Until Ashton ended up butting heads with the government. He then kinda lost his mind after that because he took his family off the grid and he kept pushing them to isolate themselves.

He didn’t want them around other people or to play. They were kids at the time. He took away their childhood out of fear over what he did for the government and if that information was going to get out. Ashton became paranoid. He became aggressive. It made sense that his own wife would have someone take care of him.

Where she failed in her duty was the fact that she blamed her own son for her husband’s murder. She let Colter believe it was Russell that pushed Ashton off that cliff. Russell has even forgiven her. He came to know why she wanted to push him away. Mary did it because she wanted to protect him.

She couldn’t afford to let anyone look into Ashton’s death. It was ruled an accident. Russell quickly left home. Colter was curious so she kept them as far away from the investigation as possible. She too was worried about what Ashton had been involved with.

Mary was now selling the cabin. She was finally ready to start over. Colter visited her with his brother. It was actually Russell who convinced him to have a conversation with her. The two haven’t really talked since Colter found out about Otto. So, he pushed for answers tonight. Mary said she wanted Otto to scare him off.

She didn’t think that he would kill Ashton. She also was worried about whomever they were on the run from. It’s why she let Dory go live with relatives. It’s why she pushed Russell out of the nest the moment he turned eighteen. It’s also why she lied to Colter. She was trying to make it impossible for all of three of them to be found at the same time.

Just in case Ashton’s government friends came back around. Colter had asked his mom what Ashton was working on. She told him she didn’t know. She only knew that he had worked for the government for a few years and that he snapped after that last summer in Alaska. He became paranoid. He hurt his wife.

He was working his way up to hurting his children. His death was a blessing. Mary no longer feared him and she doesn’t have to keep protecting her children from the truth. They’re adults now.

Colter wasn’t angry with her anymore. Not now that he knows the truth. He kissed her goodbye and then he took off with Russell. They still wanted to find the truth about their dad.

They had learned the name of Dr. Serena Jukic. She worked with Ashton. She revealed what their “research” had been about. It turns out they were study psionics. They were finding geniuses and pushing them to the limit of their brain capacity. It was going well at first until the government sent in new test subjects – children.

A child had even died during this research. It’s what pushed Ashton over the edge. He was ousted from his job. He lost his security clearance and the government did their best to paint him as insane.

They did the same thing to Serena when she eventually left as well. Serena had stayed there longer than Ashton. She hadn’t believed him when he warned her. She stayed because she bonded with one of the children. She never had kids of her own. Danny Kellerman became a son to her. He had joined the program when he was eight.

Serena was told at first that he was an orphan. She later learned that was a lie. His mother had still been alive. She drove by his old house and saw the woman. It was enough to make her look up Danny.

Danny had supposedly died when he was eight in a car accident with his father. Serena quickly learned that the program had killed Danny’s father and abducted him from his mother. The same mother that died a month after Serena confronted her bosses. The Chrono Stasis Program was willing to kill to keep these kids under their control.

The same kids were no longer kids now. This all happened fifteen years ago. Those children were now adults and so Russell figured out how they were still controlling them. They were drugging them.

Russell has even witnessed a psyops mission. He told Colter about it. He had been stationed in Yemen. They suspected that a terrorist group was hoarding weapons and didn’t know where. Then this young man came in. He looked at a map. He determined where the cache of weapons were. And practically saved the day.

So Russell knew this program was real. He met up with an acquittance that told him that the program was still running. It was now completely off book. The government had no direct ties to it while they were still using it.

Russell mentioned all of this to Colter and Randy. Randy found out that the program was now being handled by a private military contractor. Russell told him how to find them. He had to look for a large quantity of pharmaceuticals being delivered to one of the locations.

They found where the now adults were being stashed. Russell and Colter went to go free them only Danny didn’t want to leave. He called for his armed guards. And another guard was pointing a gun at Russell’s head.

Someone had taken out a kill contract against them so next week’s season finale should be interesting.

THE END!
