In tonight’s Tracker episode, Colter headed to Hopper, Texas. He had been in the middle of working on his dad’s old car. There were missing parts and he normally goes to a junkyard to find replacement pieces. He was getting to know the young woman that works there. She asked him out. He was about to take her up on the offer when he caught a case.
He heard about a reward posted by Logan Carson for his missing wife, Brit. Their small town was even nearby. The couple had gotten into an argument one night. She tossed his phone out the car window. Logan nearly responded by calling her the b-word. He stopped just short of it. It still led to a huge argument.
He got out of the car before it could escalate. She then upped the ante by driving off. She told him to find his own way home. Only Brit hadn’t been there by time Logan returned. They had security cameras at home. They have a smart doorbell. Bree never came back from that drive and Logan knew that for a fact.
He contacted her friends as well as her family. They all claimed that they hadn’t heard from her. She seemingly disappeared on that road. Colter then retraced her steps from when she drove off.
Brit had seemingly stopped not far from where she left her husband. Perhaps out of guilt for leaving like that or with every intention of turning back for him. She stopped just long enough for someone to sneak up on her. They smashed her window and then forced their way into their car. Brit wasn’t just missing. She had been taken.
The person responsible had been injured. They were signs of blood in the footprints he left behind. Colter tracked the car to the parking lot of a nearby pharmacy. The pharmacy had been broken into the night before.
Someone smashed the security cameras. They grabbed gauze and painkillers. The local sheriff thought it was the usual dopehead. Colter knew it was something more. He had Randy hack a taco truck’s dashcam. It showed Brit with a strange man and that it had been this man that broke into the pharmacy. He really was injured.
He went in for supplies. He was also carrying Brit along with him. Which wasn’t good. They didn’t know each other. He was merely using her because he was too injured to get things done himself. She’s expendable and the gunman knows it.
He had her digging something up in the desert. She thought it was her own grave until he told her she still had her uses. He’s somehow involved in her in whatever bigger mess he’s involved in. Colter found signs of that bigger mess. He tracked the bloodied footprints by the road into the desert. He found the bodies of two men. Its clear that a deal was being made out in those woods when someone else interrupted them. Colter determined that it was a sharpshooter. They might’ve wanted to rob both parties and walk away.
Colter had Logan call the sheriff department. He soon met Sheriff Danaher. The man was happy to take whatever useful information he could get out of Colter. The only thing he didn’t want was Colter’s involvement. He was trying to shuffle him off because he figured that had been a drug deal gone wrong. He said he’d turn it over to state cops soon and that it will be out of their hands. Colter said he didn’t care about finding the killer. He simply wanted to find Brit and safely get her home. Brit was his sole concern.
Colter took the job to find her. He wasn’t going to leave a woman in danger. He kept looking for Brit. He had been alone at the crime scene for a while to find a photo of a guy that hadn’t been one of the victims and wouldn’t be dumb enough to be the killer. He had Randy used facial recognition on that photo. It identified the kidnapper as Cyrus Trotzig. His uncle owned a bunch of properties outside of town. Colter went to the closest. He got into a shootout with Cyrus and Cyrus was killed. The man who killed him had been one of the sheriff’s deputies.
The guy said he checked employee records of everyone who worked for the owner of that land. He spotted Cyrus from the photo and yet Colter suspected the guy’s story was off somehow. It wasn’t until he happened to mention that Brit knows where Cyrus buried his money that things shifted. The deputy offered to drive the couple home now that their car has been impounded as evidence. Colter then noticed something. He noticed that the deputy had been on the scene before he was. He merely waited for his chance to kill Cyrus.
Now, Colter went racing after the couple. He found Logan injured. He called in for help and ambulance. He then went after Brit. He found her not long after she had been shot in the shoulder. He was able to injure the deputy. He handcuffed him and got first aide to Brit. The sheriff was good people in the sense that he didn’t try to bury what happened. He actually opened an investigation into his own department to make sure the rot stopped at that one man. The deputy had figured out the land was being used as a waystation for drug dealers. And he thought to make a quick buck.
He’ll answer for it in prison. Colter meanwhile was making a date with the beautiful woman from earlier. He was willing to take a chance on someone new. Reenie wasn’t prepared to take the same chance on someone from her past. She officially has to work with Adam Shelvin, but she wasn’t going to ruin her own mental state by following him down memory lane. She told him that they should stop at work. He pretended to hear her and only time will tell if he genuinely did.
THE END!
