The infamous killer is back. Sweeny was hosting a very unusual engagement party (a S&M theme) when Alicia was forced into disturbing him. Apparently, she needed his signature on some legal documents in order to obtain a million dollar bonus, but as is the case with Sweeny – he wanted a favor in return. It seems his future wife had to agree to a merger and Sweeny wanted Alicia to be the one to sell her on the idea.

So Alicia did what she had to do. She convinced the feisty Renata to agree to whatever Sweeny wants with the added condition that Renata gets a little bit more out of this merger. Like a seat on the board although Renata’s friend didn’t want her to cave no matter the conditions. Morgan didn’t think the merger was worth it and she held the same opinion on Sweeny.

Then the very same friend showed up dead a couple of hours later. Alicia just happened to have still been there and so she was dragged in yet another Sweeny Murder case.

Admittedly Alicia wasn’t paying close attention at the time though. She was dealing with Finn’s case as well as her son getting photographed with a bong. So she would have made a poor witness even if the detectives hadn’t expected her to lie for her client.

After all this is the second time Alicia was with Sweeny when a body was found on his property so naturally the police believe that Alicia was there on purpose. Which is was a second reason why Alicia couldn’t represent Sweeny during the investigation. Not only is she a witness, but having a lawyer conveniently at the crime scene has only made Sweeny look even guiltier.

Thus far the police suspect Sweeny mainly because the victim, Morgan, was found to have several marks on her from Autoerotic Asphyxiation. Now everyone knows how much Sweeny enjoys the forbidden so it isn’t looking too good for him to have a well- crafted sex dungeon on the premises. However the same evidence that could be used against Sweeny could also be used against his fiancée.

While Sweeny’s possible relationship with Morgan is hearsay – it is a fact that Renata had a sexual relationship with her friend and once upon a time future bridesmaid. And on occasion they used the sex dungeon from earlier for themselves.

Once the State’s Attorney found out about it – they then went for Renata. But Alicia’s firm couldn’t defend her seeing as Sweeny was already a client and the fact that Alicia is technically a witness. So she recommended Diane for the case.

Diane proves to be great at defending Renata during the preliminary hearing. Which to be fair wasn’t all that hard. The State Attorney’s office pulled Finn off of every other case he was on, but then suddenly they put him on this one high profile murder.

They did this to make him appear unready and he was. Not only is Finn still getting over the shooting there’s also the fact the case was handed to him at the very last minute. So he was caught fumbling.

His old friend Castro wanted him to appear weak and then he was going to personally step in to save the day. Funnily enough this is election year and Castro wanted to look good. But Alicia had seen the writing on the wall – she knew that Finn was slowly being pushed out of office and so she told him how to counter-attack. Alicia advised him to run for State’s Attorney’s office.

At first Finn didn’t want to play such games though he soon got over it when he was inches away from getting fired. As long as he’s potential contender in the State’s Attorney race then the acting official can’t fire him seeing as it would look like retaliation.

Meanwhile Diane used Sweeny to play a dirty trick on Alicia. She made him compromise Alicia’s testimony as a witness and in doing so had Alicia discredited on the stand.

Alicia’s testimony was all the State’s Attorney had to cast doubt on Renata. Without her they were forced to drop the case. Now Alicia didn’t like Diane’s tactics though she understood why the other woman did it, but what she hates more than Diane using her is the fact that Renata really did kill her friend.

Renata confessed that she wanted to feel closer to Sweeny and that’s why she callously murdered someone. She swears it gives her common bond with her husband.

And what an odd to start a marriage. Still, Alicia isn’t in the position to judge. Her son has been doing drugs because of the “games” his parents are playing. Zach found out about their political marriage and has been acting out without his parents recognizing it. Yet the picture of him with a bong did manage to grab their attention.

It got Alicia to freak out so his plan is working.

As for Peter, he’s acting out in his own way. Peter didn’t like how Castro was trying to use his wife against Sweeny and so he’s endorsing a new name for the State’s Attorney’s office. Peter publicly recommended Finn and that left Eli no choice in supporting this unknown name as well.

Finn put his name, but he wasn’t actually going to run. Now he has to!
