Tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette begins with Jojo Fletcher waking up after her first night as The Bachelorette – she has officially met all of the guys. Meanwhile at the house, the guys having breakfast together and feeling each other out. Chris Harrison arrives to brief them on the first week – there will be two group dates and one 1-on-1 date.

Chris Harrison delivers the first date card. Luke, Grant, Will, Evan, Daniel, Vinnie, Ali, James F., Wells, and Robbie are going on the first date. The card teases, “Let’s heat things up.”

There’s a crash outside and the guys all run outside, a limo is parked in front of the house, and has gone up in flames. A fire truck arrives with its sirens on, Jojo jumps out of the firetruck, dressed as a firefighter and grabs a hose and puts out the fire…because that wasn’t corny or anything. Once the fire is out, Jojo leaves with the first group of guys for their group date. Back at the house, the remaining guys are all gathered around the window and watching Chad work out. He’s already been dubbed the “meat head” of Season 12. Chad is doing chin-ups with his luggage tied around his waist, and the other guys are roasting him mercilessly.

On the group date, Jojo takes the guys to a firefighter academy, they are competing in a bunch of activities – the winner at the end of the date will get to spend some 1-on-1 time with Jojo. Of course, the other guys are feeling a little intimidated – seeing as how Grant is a real firefighter. Some of the less athletic guys, like Wells, are seriously struggling. Chopping wood with 80 pounds of gear on him, is not a good combination for Wells. They have the medics come in to look at Wells, and Jojo sits on his stretcher with him and takes care of him.

Back at the house, the remaining guys that aren’t on a date decided to write a song about Jojo to sing for her later. Chad refuses to participate, he thinks that they are acting like high schoolers and tells them that there is no way they are that in love with her, they have known Jojo less than 24 hours.

ON the group date, Grant, Wells, and Luke are the only ones remaining in the competition. They race through an obstacle course and the first one to finish it will get a 1-on-1 date with Jojo. Grant and Luke leave Wells in the dust. Grant won … of course … after all he gets paid to be a firefighter on a daily basis, we should hope that he can beat a bunch of random guys off the street that have no training. Grant and Jojo head off together – and jealousy is already starting to set in with the other guys. Back at the house, the next date card arrives – the other guys are not too thrilled when they learn that Derek Peth scored a 1-on-1 date.

Jojo has some champagne with Grant, he milks the whole firefighter thing and Jojo raves that he is a hero. They share a romantic kiss and then Jojo ditches Grant to hang out with Wells, who is still milking the whole “I almost died trying to impress you dressed as a firefighter” thing. Jojo has quick chats with some of the other guys. Luke opens up to her about being in the military, and his last girlfriend. They share their first kiss, and Luke is certain that he is getting the group date rose. At the end of the group date, Jojo gives the date rose to Wells…and Luke is not happy about it.

For Jojo and Derek’s 1-on-1 date, they basically just freestyle and don’t have anything huge planned. They ride around in a classic car, and take a private plane to a beautiful scenic area to have a romantic picnic, and they share their first kiss.

The final group date card arrives at the house. Jordan, Christian, Nick, James T, Alex, and Chad are heading out with Jojo next. There are three guys that aren’t getting a date this week. Chad upsets everyone by rubbing it in their faces that he has a date, he tells the other guys to chill and says that Jojo isn’t going anywhere and they can see her next week. After spending the afternoon together, Derek and Jojo head out on a romantic dinner date together. They open up and discuss their previous relationships.

Jojo talks about Ben Higgins and how devastated she was when he dumped her. Derek tells Jojo that he has a tough time connecting with people and he has been hurt in the past. Derek says that he wanted to marry his ex-girlfriend, but he found out there was another guy in her life. At the end of the date, Jojo gives Derek the date rose.

Now, it’s time for the next group date. The guys head to the ESPN Sports Nation set, where Jojo is filming an episode with the hosts. The host Marcellus announces that they have put together a series of contests for the guys and they are going to power rank them for The Bachelorette.

Of course, being a pro football player, Jordan thinks that he has the competition in the bag. Little does he know – they aren’t typical sports contests. First, the guys have to show off their endzone dances, then they have to spin ten times and get down on one knee and try to propose to Jojo without falling over. For the final stage of the contest, the ESPN hosts quiz the guys. Chad is rubbing everyone the wrong way, and the guys aren’t afraid to tell Jojo that she shouldn’t choose him. Jojo is actually feeling Chad though, she likes that he is honest and he isn’t putting on a show like some of the other guys.

At the end of the group date, the ESPN hosts power rank Jojo’s guys. Alex is #3, Chad is #2, and James wins the competition. The guys are not happy that Chad beat them. After the group date, Chad gets in to an argument with the other guys and says that they all lied to Jojo and professed their love for her and they don’t even know them. Alex and James call Chad out and tell him that it wasn’t cool he threw them all under the bus and told Jojo that everyone was being fake…wasn’t he telling the truth though?Afterwards, Jojo has a cocktail party with the guys on their group date – and she spends some 1-on-1 team with each of them. James continues to lay it on thick for Jojo, he reads a letter that he wrote for her and Jojo sheds a few tears. She gets emotional and thanks him for the sweet letter and they share their first kiss.

Chad sits back and watched the other guys talking to Jojo, he is certain that he has the competition in the bag because Jojo wants a “real man that will tell it how it is.” Chad and Jojo get some 1-on-1 time, Chad opens up to her about being in love before, and his mother passing away a few months ago. Chad romances Jojo, they throw a penny in the wishing well together and then he makes a move and kisses her.

At the end of the group date, it is time for Jojo to pass out the rose. She says that she is giving the rose to someone that really made her feel special tonight … James. Chad is thrown for a loop, he thought he was getting the rose for sure, he doesn’t get what Jojo could possibly see in James that she doesn’t see in him.

It’s time for the cocktail party and rose ceremony. Jojo arrives at the house for the party, and Chad is waiting for her outside. He asks her to go for a walk with him before the party and they chat. Chad sneaks a kiss from her before they head inside. The guys are all waiting for Jojo, and they are not happy when they see her walk through the door with Chad. Jojo slips away with one of the guys – and Alex, Jordan, and a few of the guys confront Chad and demand to know why he was outside with Jojo The conversation is awkward and tense, and Chad basically makes fun of the guys for worrying about what he was doing with Jojo, and ten he gets back to the free food and buffet of meat. The other guys joke that he has eaten enough food tonight to feed a classroom of Kindergartners.

Chase steals Jojo and takes her outside, he didn’t get a date with her this week, so he surprises her with some fake snow and they talk about going skiing and snowboarding. After they hit it off, Jojo tries to get spend a little bit of alone time with everyone else. Chad interrupts Alex and Evan’s time with Jojo. Alex is fed up with Chad – he confronts him and they have a heated argument. Chad threatens to knock out Alex’s teeth.

Now, it’s time for the rose ceremony. Wells, Derek, and James T. already have roses and they are safe tonight. Jojo passes out roses to Alex, Christian, Robby, Luke, Chase, Jordan, Grant, Ali, Daniel, James F, Nick, Vinnie, Evan, and Chad.

James S., Will, and Brandon did not get roses and they are officially eliminated from The Bachelorette.

THE END!
