Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that some big comebacks are ahead on the NBC soap. Some of those will be returns from the dead. As we prepare for Salem’s latest shakeups, let’s take a look at some characters who have refused to die over the years.
First, we have to talk about Stefano (Joseph Mascolo). No matter how many Salemites tried to take him out, the Phoenix always managed to rise! Days of Our Lives fans have seen Stefano face death by explosion, car crash, drowning, shootings and any other grim fate you could think of.
After Hope (Kristian Alfonso) gunned Stefano down, Rafe (Galen Gering) helped her dispose of the body. Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) got Hope off the hook with an elaborate charade, but a strange photograph left them wondering if Stefano could still be alive.
Now that Joseph Mascolo has passed away, it seems Stefano will just remain out there somewhere. It’s a fitting ending for the sneaky villain. Of course, Kristen (Eileen Davidson) can also be pretty tricky. She was involved in a serious car accident, but she showed back up in Salem alive and well.
Later, a fierce faceoff with Marlena (Deidre Hall) sent Kristen flying out of a castle window. Her body was never recovered from the water below, which means she undoubtedly survived. Presumed deaths rarely stick on Days! Eileen Davidson is headed back to Days of Our Lives, so it sounds Kristen swam to safety.
Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) is another character who always found ways to beat his demise. His constant returns from the dead caused chaos for his family, but they were always happy to have him back. After Jack fell down an elevator shaft, Days seemingly let the character fade away.
We still see Jack as a vision from time to time. Who knows? Maybe DOOL will let him return in the flesh someday. One of Jack’s deaths was during the infamous Salem Stalker storyline. The controversial plot got rid of half the town!
Abe (James Reynolds), Jack, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), Caroline (Peggy McCay), Cassie (Alexis Thorpe), Roman (Josh Taylor), Tony (Thaao Penghlis), Doug (Bill Hayes) and Alice (Frances Reid) were all killed off in wild ways. Victor (John Aniston) died during this period, too. The show underestimated how much backlash the bloodbath would cause. How dare you, Days!
It wasn’t long until the whole gang turned up alive on “Melaswen,” a distant island that looked just like Salem. DOOL has always been fond of shockers. We later learned Tony was actually Andre (Thaao Penghlis) and he had manipulated Marlena to believe she was the killer.
Speaking of Andre, he escaped death many times. If he can live after sinking in quicksand and unplugging his own life support, this DiMera can survive anything! Will (Chandler Massey) is also set to return from the dead, so more adventures are brewing. We’ll give you updates as other news comes in.
