The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Week of November 27 Update – Cane Needs Lily’s Help, Baby Sam’s Desperate Heart Trouble

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Cane (Daniel Goddard) will need Lily’s (Christel Khalil) support because Sam’s health status remains tenuous. Poor little Sam has congenital heart problems and his medicine isn’t working any longer. The birth of his second son created plenty of drama, but Juliet’s (Laur Allen) passing actually adjusted everyone’s outlook. Odds of Lane’s survival were also enhanced as a result – hopefully baby Sam will pull through as well. The chances of TPTB at Y&R letting a baby die during the holiday season are very small.

Lily offered significant consideration to Cane regarding his indiscretion in Tokyo. She openly stated that what previously happened between her and Joe (Scott Elrod) and the manner in which Cane agreed to forgive her misstep directly impacted her feelings. Lily was prepared to support Cane while he raised the baby with Juliet.

However, Cane’s outrageous and reckless actions in Los Angeles served to change matters. Billy (Jason Thompson) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) blocked a blackmail attempt from Jesse (Max Adler) after that side character had already stuck up Cane twice.

The then-Brash and Sassy pair bee-lined to the Ashby house where they exposed Cane to his wife. Lily realized what happened to the twins’ school fund, later decided to kick Cane out and initially sought to end their marriage.

Juliet’s placenta previa diagnosis was written during Sally Sussman’s reign as head writer. That specific medical issue afforded executive producer and now head writer Mal Young the option of killing off Allen’s character, which he proceeded to do. In so doing it appears that Lane’s fan base may have affected Y&R’s storytelling choice. But the other side of the screen may never be able to confirm this point.

Khalil and Goddard created one of, if not the most endearing couples in Genoa City. They returned to each other previously, overcame various circumstances and have served as solid parents.

SORAS’ing the twins was ominous and can now be seen in retrospect as necessary. Lexie Stevenson (Mattie) and Noah Alexander Gerry (Charlie) quickly became two fine additions to the cast and helped to expand an underserved age bracket on Y&R.

An instant return to life as viewers know it wouldn’t seem that soapy. Rather, a reconciliation that slowly develops as Cane raises his son could make sense. Lily’s name choice, which honors Cane’s deceased sister affirms that Khalil’s character not only never stopped loving her husband, but is also open to rebuilding Lane.

Redemption is a timeless theme. Considering all that’s happened this year, there can be no doubt that Cane has been and will continue to be presented with many opportunities to reform his behavior. He knows that it will be easier to regain his footing if his wife and three children are full parts of his life.

Here’s hoping that Lane and their now blended family move toward the Christmas season and through the new year as a restored unit. Forgiveness has already been offered by all parties, which Cane has gratefully accepted. Now it’s up to him to restore his family’s trust and be the man that all Y&R fans came to know before Tokyo.
