Judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan are back tonight with host Ryan Seacrest for an all new installment of American Idol.

The first contestant this evening is Walker Burrows from Birmingham, Alabama, singing “Love Like This” by Ben Rector.

Judges Comments: Katy: “That is so natural, and cool and effortless and dope. You have this like, Ben Folds, Billy Joel thing. I think you are ton ten material.” Luke: “I think there are going to be some people at home just being captivated by you. You remind me of how untalented I am. Can you do a Lionel Ritchie song? (Walker does Hello.)” Lionel: “The possibilities of your talent is just amazing. I am excited for you.” Walker is going through. His mom comes in to meet Lionel, she is wearing a Lionel button.

Johanna Jones is from Las Vegas, Nevada, singing “I’m Not The Only One” by Sam Smith.

Judges Comments: Katy: “I’m scared for you. The job you have worked so hard for, you will have to quit.” Lionel: “We in the business call the package, your control, your ability to sell it to us, it was mesmerizing. You got the touch.” Luke: “Its good, we loved it. Big time opportunity here, you are an all Ameican girl, flipping burgers.” Johanna is going through.

Kai the Singer is from South Carolina, she is singing “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and also “My Girl” on the piano.

Judges Comments: Katy: “You just got a beautiful soul. When you got on the piano, you just sort of involved right in front of our eyes and I love that you changed the lyrics, it made me tear up, it was so authentic. I relate to what you are and I am happy you are here.” Luke: “When you got on the piano, it started stirring many emotions in me, I don’t know you make it here. Just hearing you sing with real life in there, you can move mountains.” Lionel: “You got me crying, you got everyone crying. You are here for a reason and a purpose, God can only do for you, what he can do through you.” Kai makes it through.

Tyler Mitchel is from Louisiana, he is singing “Whenever You Come Around” by Vince Gill.

Judges Comments: Katy: “What a special moment. Have you performed much? (no) You could sing giberage and it would be great. Literally, a star is born.” Lionel: “You are in the oil business, you stuck oil with this audition, you woke us up, congratulations.” Luke: “We don’t need to tell you anything but you just be you, smile through the awkward times and America will love you.” Tyler makes it through.

Vokillz is from Buffalo, New York, he is singing an original song called, “American Creature.”

Judges Comments: Katy: “That is like really different, does your voice get tired? (yes).” Luke: “I was the only one who rode the wave. It is very unique, I am sure you can get a lot of followers.” Lionel: “Everything was perfect, except I thought how can you possibly do duets with other contestants.” Vokillz doesn’t make it through.

Margie Mays is really annoying and never tells us where she is from, she sings, “Shot” by Lawrence.

Judges Comments: Katy: “You are literally a star. You can be exactly who you are, just focus on winning with your voice and let your heart shine through. When you are not singing, just be yourself. You go from totally insane, to totally pro.” Margie is going through.

Myra Tran is from Vietnam, she is singing “One Night Only” from Dreamgirls by Jennifer Hudson.

Judges Comments: Katy: “I loved it. You just need to keep singing, because if you do, you are really going to connect with people. I have never heard of a Vietnamese singer that is as good as you.” Lionel: “There is nothing to prepare you to. You have stepped into a zone that is yours. And, all I want you to do is rule your zone.” Luke: “You are up there with the Kelly Clarksons of the world, that is the only way I can say it. Myra makes it through.

Uche grew up in the church, he wants to reach out to LGBTQ kids, he is singing, “Ain’t No Man” by Christina Aguilera.

Judges Comments: Katy: “I think you would be really spicy to have in Hollywood.” Lionel: “My vote is no because I don’t know what your voice is going to be like – then Lionel changes his vote to a yes based on who inspires Uche.” Luke: “You can sing, but I am afraid about how much we will have to coach you through this thing.” Uche is going through.

Lacy Kaye Booth is from Livingston, Texas, she is singing “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard.

Judges Comments: Luke: “You just slayed it. Truly you have timber or something in your voice. We didn’t see it from any girl last year, you are on your way to be world class.” Lionel: “If you know how to hone in on your thing and don’t get psyched out by every else’s thing, you are going to be ok.” Katie: “I think you are the first voice that we have heard that is a diamond in the rough. I don’t know if you believe that about yourself, but you really have something different sounding than anyone else.” Lacy makes it through.

Nick Rogers dedicates his song to Katy, he is singing, “Mine” by Bazzi.

Katy: “Love it, love your flow. Who are your musical influences? (Nick says one of them is Lionel Ritchie and then he can’t name one of his songs, FAIL)” Lionel: “I think you have a possibility of doing something great.” Nick makes it through.

Tiffanne LeMay is a real Lionel Ritchie fan. She is singing “The Best Part” by h.e.r. and Daniel Caesar.

Judges Comments: Katy: “I love your sunny disposition, I think you have a really good voice, you just need to sing to win.” Lionel: “I knew there was something about you when you first walked in. I love your style, I think your voice is your style and I am loving it.” Luke: “One thing, open your mouth a little more when you sing.” Tiffanne makes it through.

Nick is from Nebraska but lives in Los Angeles. He is singing, “Let it Go” by James Bay.

Judges Comments: Katy: “You have power and level in your voice, you started small, you’ve got that beauty, don’t be afraid of it.” Lionel: “I applaud you, I am very proud of you. There is wonderful quality in a voice, you have it.” Luke: “The simplicity of you sell your voice is very understated and nice. I lost both my siblings and I applaud you for keep fighting and being a support to your parents.” Nick made it through.
