The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 8, tease that Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) will be overjoyed by her reunion with Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). At Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) place, Chelsea will welcome Connor along with Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach). After Connor dashes off to the kitchen, Chelsea will face some criticism from her meddling mother.
Anita won’t approve of Chelsea rebounding with Nick, especially when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) wanted to reunite. However, Chelsea will insist she doesn’t recognize Adam anymore. Adam isn’t the man she knew, but she’ll suggest Nick’s just a pal. Chelsea will offer Anita a million bucks to relieve any insecurities she might have, but Anita will pass on the money and leave her daughter taken aback.
Before Chelsea can get to the bottom of Anita’s surprising decision, Connor will scamper back in. Chelsea will speak with the boy privately about Calvin Boudreau’s (John Burke) death and her desire to live in Genoa City now. That’ll leave Connor wondering about the reason for the move.
At The Dive Bar, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will finish up party prep as she talks to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks). She’ll note that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) still doesn’t know Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is attending. Once Sharon arrives, Mariah will try to give her mom a heads-up. Unfortunately, Sharon will dash off before Mariah has an opportunity to come clean.
At the coffeehouse, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will have some books about ghosts and how to communicate with them. He’ll run into Rey before reflecting on his latest trip to the Chancellor mansion. Once Rey shows up at the party, he’ll quickly cross paths with Sharon and leave Mariah in hot water. Sharon will feel like anytime before now would’ve been better to find out Rey would be there.
Once Mariah leaves Sharon and Rey to talk, Sharon will suggest they should just keep their distance. He’ll try to bring up Adam, but Sharon won’t want to get into it. At home, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) will fill Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in on her peaceful gesture of inviting Summer Newman (Hunter King). He’ll appreciate Lola’s efforts and decide they can squeeze in some lovemaking before the party.
Back on the rooftop, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) won’t be keen on posing for pics in the “happily ever after” photobooth with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). After Summer appears with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), Mariah will march over to demand answers. She’ll get updates on Summer’s invitation, but she won’t think Kyle’s going to approve of Theo attending.
Mariah will be proven right when Kyle arrives and tries to throw Theo out. Nevertheless, Lola will convince Kyle to let his former friend stick around. A little later, Mariah will make a speech for “Kola” before Tessa plays a song on her ukulele. The guests will see a montage of Kyle and Lola’s childhood pictures to celebrate the occasion.
Rey will make a humorous speech of his own, but Summer will spend her evening making snarky comments to Theo. Once Abby hears her, she’ll get riled up and vent to Nate. Next, Summer will prompt Abby to step aside and settle this. Meanwhile, Jack will make a toast followed by an impromptu one from Theo, who’ll wish everybody had seen the Kyle he used to know.
Kyle will shut down Theo’s comment and pull him away from the crowd. They’ll bicker as Theo rants about Kyle being so sanctimonious. Y&R spoilers say Theo will bring up a night like this one several years back. Kyle will snarl about how the girl was only 17 and could’ve died. Theo will think it all worked out, but Kyle will suggest he was the one who paid off the girl’s father. He’ll just want Theo out of his life.
Back with Abby and Summer, they’ll trade barbs over their love lives. Things will escalate rapidly as Abby hurls water in Summer’s face and gets an ice bucket dumped on her head in return. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah will get in between them and try to break up the fight.
Over with Billy and Sharon, they’ll bail on the party and wind up at Crimson Lights. Billy won’t like whatever spell Adam has on Sharon. He’ll hear that Rey caught them together and express his disapproval.
Other Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon will learn Billy visited a therapist. Sadly, Billy won’t think his therapist can handle what he’s facing. He’ll bring Sharon up to speed on hearing Delia’s voice and the latest writing on the wall. Sharon will ask Billy if he feels like he’s seeing Delia’s ghost.
