General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) has finished off her latest run, but another one is likely looming. Naturally, some big secrets need to come out before Nelle returns. GH has set up some dramatic revelations – starting with the reveal that Nelle is Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological daughter.
However, there’s another dark and disturbing secret that should follow that daughter reveal. We’re talking about the fact that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) covered up Nelle’s cliff fall.
Jax feared Carly could be blamed for pushing Nelle off that cliff. Even Jax himself had to admit the thought crossed his mind!
Carly vehemently denied shoving Nelle – and General Hospital fans know she was telling the truth. Although Carly hesitated for a moment near the cliff’s edge, she eventually realized Nelle was in genuine distress and tried to pull her up. Carly tried to save Nelle, but it might not have looked that way to the cops.
There’s also the matter of Carly’s husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), the untouchable mob boss that no one can take down. Carly could’ve gone down instead – just to prove a point and make Sonny pay.
In other words, Carly’s cover-up was driven by fear and pressure from Jax. The walls were closing in, so Carly made a bad decision thanks to Jax’s terrible advice.
However, all the excuses in the world won’t be enough for Nina! GH buzz says it seems likely Nina will find out Nelle’s her daughter for November sweeps, but what about February sweeps? It’ll be here before you know it, and that’s when Carly’s cover-up with Jax might be exposed.
Jax and Carly’s world is set to blow up – perhaps due to eavesdropping or clues that lead to trouble. Nina might grow suspicious enough to confront the cover-up duo.
Carly’s already on edge, so just imagine how frazzled and tense she’ll be months from now. It won’t be hard for Nina to pry a full confession out of Carly, though Nina may not believe it wasn’t murder.
After all, Carly hated Nelle’s guts! There were no witnesses by the cliff at the time, so that’s another factor to consider. Of course, the cover-up itself makes Carly look incredibly guilty.
Carly knew going into this that cover-ups don’t end well – and she’ll ultimately be proven right.
There’s no news on when this cover-up will explode, but February sweeps would be the ideal time for everything to unravel. We’ll deliver updates as other GH details emerge.
