The 8th Annual Duck Dunk became a crime scene. A couple of kids who were trying to cheat at the event had released the duck far from the crowd and that’s how they found the dead body. The body belonged to Petty Officer First Class Jeremy Whistler. He was strangled and then tossed into the river. It was a good thing he had his military ID still on him. The team used that to identify him and they searched his remains for what else he may have had with him. They found a cell phone. Whistler was called several times by his wife. She was asking him where he was and she seemed worried. There was also a call from an unknown number. This person left a message in which they threatened to murder the Whistler the next time he saw them and so that was their first lead.

They could tell from the call that voicemail belonged to a woman. They knew she must have been angry about something and yet the team couldn’t figure out what. Their victim was a saint. He volunteered everywhere and he had a life full of friends. Whistler never did anything controversial or bad. His wife couldn’t even think of anyone who would be angry with and so the team went digging. They later connected the voicemail with Beverly Berkshire. She attended class with Whistler at Aspire Technical College and they were lab partners. They were working out just fine when Beverly found out someone used their computer to hack into the school’s student financial data.

Beverly knew it was Whistler. She told the team that everyone believed he was a saint and the whole time he was the devil. Whistler was the hacker known as TerrorCastor. He would target the elderly and defraud them. He was high up on the FBI Cybercrimes Most Wanted. He was a really bad guy and Beverly knew his secret. She just couldn’t do anything about it. She had priors for fraud and so she knew no one would believe her about Mr. Perfect. Beverly told the team everything. They went digging and they found out she was right. Whistler was dirty. The man had even been stabbed recently.

Palmer found evidence of it. He later told the team and so they used that information to confront Whistler’s widow. She once claimed that her husband was a good man. They now have evidence to show differently and so they confronted her with it. They asked her what her husband was really doing. She told them some sob story about their daughter was born with a condition and that they are nearly bankrupt to get treatment for her. She even tried to claim her husband hated what he had to do. She said that’s why he was going to school and so the team told her what they found. Whistler went to that school to find a new victim. He didn’t care about getting an education and he wasn’t some Robin Hood.

Whistler hurt a lot of people. The team wanted to know who did he drive to stab him and so the wife told them that had been Whistler’s best friend. His name was Taye Tanner. He and Whistler used to run wild as kids. They each had long juvie records and they must have had a falling out later on. McGee and Torres went go pick him. They had had to chase him and so they really wanted Sloane’s thoughts on him when they brought him, but she was preoccupied. Sloane’s biological daughter has come back into her life. Her daughter Faith was getting married and going through fertility treatments. She also wanted to know who her father was.

Sloane had no idea how to tell Faith she was raped. She had gotten drunk at a party and she asked a friend to take her home. He used that. He got her alone and he raped her. Sloane found out she was pregnant six weeks later and she joined the army after the adoption. The rest was history. Sloane had never wanted Faith to learn the truth. She had put her up for adoption to protect her and so she at first didn’t want to tell Faith the truth. She had wanted to hide it as she did back then. She had even talked about it with Gibbs and Gibbs like a really great friend had offered to find the guy for her. He asked for a name. She told him “no” and she said that’s why she never wanted to tell him. She never wanted to be thought of as a victim who needed saving

Sloane has been living with this for thirty years. She wanted to put it behind her and so she made Gibbs promise to forget it. Gibbs ended up going back to his case. He and McGee questioned Tanner. They found out Tanner and Whistler had been selling internet security (once they finished infecting said computers). The guys had moved the money they made to an offshore account and one day all the money was gone. Tanner blamed Whistler. He pulled a knife and he stabbed his best friend. The two naturally had a falling out and they never talked again. The team had no idea why Whistler turned on his best friend.

They thought maybe they could ask around at the school. There was just one little problem with that. The school had been completely abandoned and no one knows what happened to Aspire Technical College. The website was gone. The vending machines were gone and no one was answering the phone. It turns out Aspire Technical College was a pop-up scam school. The scammers started a school in which they helped people fill out loan papers and then once they got the money they would shut up shop. They would even move on to start a new school somewhere else. The person behind the school had been caught out. They tried to con a con-man and Whistler realized what they were doing.

Whistler had gone legit. He stole money from his best friend to pay back all the people he conned and he wanted to start over at the school. But when he found out what they were doing, he blackmailed them to keep the school open because he still wanted to start over. The people behind scam then posed as students to find out who was blackmailing them and then they killed Whistler. The team found evidence and they got their bad guys.

Sloane meanwhile talked to her daughter and her daughter had figured out the truth. She was a doctor and she recognized the look on Sloane’s face. She knew she was the product of rape. She also realized that her mother gave her up so that she could have a better life and in an odd way the truth brought them closer together.

THE END!
