Prince Harry’s Company Gets Large Payout – Funds Originally Earmarked For Charity, What Will They Be Used For?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a move that is raising eyebrows. As royal watchers know, Harry and Meghan stepped away from their roles as senior royals this past spring, and they’re now living in a multi-million-dollar mansion in Beverly Hills along with their one-year-old son Archie Harrison.

Harry and Meghan are seeking to live and work independently of the royal family, and that includes financial independence as well.

Well, as part of their separation from the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also stepped away from The Royal Foundation, which was the joint charity they shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Now, news comes that Harry and Meghan received a payout from The Royal Foundation last year and that the money went to two sources – Sussex Royal and Travalyst.

Sussex Royal was the charitable organization of Harry and Meghan’s before they left the royal family, and Travalyst is Prince Harry’s limited company. Travalyst is a sustainable travel initiative that offers tips for travelers on how to travel the world in a more ethical way.

According to the Daily Star, Sussex Royal received a £145,000 payout and Travalyst received a £144,901 payout at that time.

And once Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family to embark on their independent life, they had to step away from the Sussex Royal brand as well as give up their royal titles.

That means that the charitable foundation Sussex Royal is now defunct, and The Express is now claiming that the funds from Sussex Royal are being transferred to Travalyst.

In fact, a source told the outlet that Travalyst is “now operating as an independent nonprofit based in the UK, and all assets from Sussex Royal will transfer over.”

This move seems to be necessitated because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new charitable organization – the Archewell Foundation – is not yet up and running.

Earlier this year, Harry and Meghan announced their plans for Archewell to be their new charitable foundation. However, the launch of the organization has been delayed, presumably due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has stalled business virtually everywhere.

The end result here is that Prince Harry’s company now has about £300,000 in funds from Sussex Royal that were to be funds for charity. We suspect there will be a close watch on how Travalyst uses those funds going forward.
