Prince William & Prince Harry Split Diana Memorial Fund - Further Rift Between The Brothers?

British royals news reveals that Prince William and Prince Harry are getting father and father apart. Not only are they separated by great distance ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties and moved to North America, but it also seems that their charitable ties are being severed as well.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle used to run the Royal Foundation together. The Royal Foundation is a philanthropic and charitable organization that the quad used to manage as a united front.

But since Harry and Meghan have stepped away and are in the process of building their own separate charitable foundation – Archewell – they’ve stepped away from the Royal Foundation, leaving Prince William and Kate Middleton alone in the endeavor.

Well, that meant that something had to be done about the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund that was set up back in 1997 after the death of Princess Diana.

The fund has been paid into the Royal Foundation since 2013, and now that Prince Harry is no longer part of the Royal Foundation, something had to be done, since both William and Harry are involved with the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

As it turns out, the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund has not been actively raising funds for several years now, but it still occasionally gets funds from certain contributors and legacies.

The fund was originally established to receive contributions from donors and other contributions, such as sales of Elton John’s rendition of “Candle In The Wind” for Princess Diana. It seems the decision was made to split what remains of the Diana Fund between Prince William and Prince Harry.

According to express.co.uk, Prince Harry has requested that his share from the Diana Fund go towards a charity called Sentebale, which is his HIV/AIDS charity.

That seems wholly appropriate, given that Harry founded that charity based on Princess Diana’s efforts where HIV/AIDS was concerned. Harry founded Sentebale with his friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, Africa.

Of course, Prince Harry couldn’t pool the funds into Archewell, as that charitable foundation is not yet established. Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle intended to launch Archewell rather soon after stepping back from their royal duties, the coronavirus pandemic necessitated a delay. Currently, Archewell’s launch has been pushed forward to 2021.

At any rate, this is yet another step toward Prince Harry separating himself from Prince William and from the royal family as a whole. And it was a particularly significant split, since it involved an organization related to Princess Diana.

This all comes as reports of the rift between the brothers being somewhat mended, but time will tell how Prince Harry’s separation from Prince William will ultimately play out. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals news and updates.
