The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) extended absence could be explained in a way that’s both realistic and offers hope. His mother, Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo), is a world famous psychiatrist. Following the full, public humiliation that Thomas experienced at the failed Thoe wedding, it’s reasonable to believe that he sought his mother’s advice and council.
It makes sense, on a number of levels, to write Atkinson’s character into a mental health treatment facility. He could be shown there, which would allow for many intriguing scenarios to play out, or Thomas could state what he’s accomplished after being released.

Injecting freshness into soap opera storylines is necessary in order to keep and promote viewers interest. Last year’s recast of this role provided plenty of dramatic moments. So, why not place him in a new environment?
The prospect of adding new characters, assuming a shown stay in a health facility, would allow Thomas to interact with different people. That alone would allow the audience to determine his forthrightness.

Of course Thomas could still be playing games. While he would have legitimately sought his mother’s help, Thomas might be going through the motions in order to gain a credibility card.
It would be harder for his family members and others who he’s wronged to challenge Thomas’ truthfulness if he tells them about his stay in a treatment facility and a potentially prescribed course of medication, with ongoing therapy sessions.
Thomas could use his mother and a facility as part of some veiled game. Then again, he might not be doing that at all and is actually trying to get better.
Bold And The Beautiful Spoilers – True Contrition With Some Challenges
Naturally, everyone in Los Angeles, California, is going to have a hard time believing that Thomas has improved himself. But if he’s sincere, he’ll gain sympathy and support.
Hopefully, Thomas wouldn’t legitimately seek help, gain approval from doctors for making progress, and then undercut all he accomplishes by reverting to his old patterns. But he’s eviscerated everyone’s trust and used as many second chances as people were willing to allow.
Thomas would face challenges in trying to live a refreshed life, but that would provide a new type of storyline for Atkinson to work and likely prove compelling.
