The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers update for Wednesday, January 8, teases that Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) will be in shock over Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) engagement conditions. Liam made the not-so-romantic decision to propose with a stipulation attached.
Liam wants Hope to cut all ties with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), which means ending their business collaboration and ditching this co-parenting plan.
Hope is passionate about her line, but work isn’t as high on her list of priorities as Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri). It’s one thing to walk away from a fashion partnership, but walking away from a child?
That’s just not something Hope will feel like she can do. Douglas has already been told that Hope is his mother now. They’ve formed a bond and Hope still wants to protect him.
After all, if Thomas is as dangerous as Liam claims, shouldn’t someone stable be looking out for Douglas? Hope adores that kid and won’t want to break his little heart, so she’ll try to negotiate here.
Hope will beg Liam to forget about this ultimatum and accept that she needs to share custody of Douglas. Hope will likely refuse to put her love for Liam above her love for Douglas – which is what Liam’s asking her to do.
Of course, Liam will assure Hope that she can remain part of Douglas’ life. It’s the legal ties that’ll be a problem for Liam. He’ll complain that Thomas will continue to manipulate Hope through co-parenting Douglas.
Liam won’t feel like it’s a healthy situation for any of them, so he’ll stand by his stipulation and count on Hope to cave in.
When Hope puts up a fight, The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say Liam will get fed up. He’ll walk right out the door and leave a heartbroken Hope in tears. As for Thomas, he’ll hit the roof when he realizes Liam tried to cut him out of the picture entirely.
Thomas will undoubtedly feel like Liam’s the one manipulating Hope now.
Naturally, the biggest issue for Thomas will be Douglas. He realizes Douglas is his most powerful tool when it comes to drawing Hope closer. Even so, this is about more than what Thomas wants. He’ll think it’s about what Douglas needs – and what Hope needs for that matter.
Thomas will believe Liam’s being outrageous for trying to destroy Hope and Douglas’ connection.
While Thomas fumes, B&B spoilers say Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) will voice his support for “Steam.” He’ll tell Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) that she’s the one who belongs with Liam, not Hope.
Steffy may agree on some level, but she probably won’t be interested in meddling – not until Thomas nudges his sister into it later this week!
