The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the tension will continue between Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). As Y&R viewers know, Nick has been less than understanding about Chelsea’s living situation. She’s been living with Adam and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) at Adam’s penthouse while Connor continues to struggle. The situation seems to be good for Connor, but not so good for Chelsea and Nick.
Nick is upset because he knows that while Connor is truly going through a tough time and needs both his parents nearby, Adam is also using the situation to his full advantage. And now, Adam has given up any pretense of innocence in the matter and has come right out and admitted to Chelsea that he loves her and wants her.
And interestingly, Chelsea stopped short of denying it when Adam kissed her and accused her of loving him back. And upcoming Y&R spoilers indicate that she and Adam will soon reconcile and end up making love.
This is a huge development, and it seems that both Adam was right all along, and that Chelsea does have unresolved feelings for him.
This also feels like a major setup for a new 2020 “who’s the father” situation on Y&R. After all, it was only a few days ago in soap time that Chelsea and Nick slept together, when they seemed to be on the road to a happy reconciliation.
And now, Chelsea and Adam will make love, so the situation seems right for a pregnancy to result, and for Chelsea to be uncertain who the father is – Nick or Adam.
Of course, that would lead to an epic conflict in 2020 between the brothers, and just when the Newman family was starting to have some peace. And if Nick thought that he had animosity toward his brother before, wait until he learns that Adam and Chelsea slept together.
Nick’s going to be seriously hurt and feel betrayed – and this will all come after Chelsea promised him time and time again that she loved him and wasn’t at all interested in Adam.
It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens here, but we suspect that we’ll see a “who’s the father” story for Adam, Chelsea, and Nick coming up soon. And if that happens, expect the various Newmans to take sides.
Of course, it should be a while before a paternity test could feasibly be done, so there will probably be quite a bit of nail biting on the part of the characters until they can get an answer to who’s the daddy.
