The actor’s willingness to return to the show after only being gone for approximately a year was welcomed by her many fans and cast mates. Morgan’s choice signaled her decision to confront Hilary’s ghost as well.
The terrific persona that Y&R created and that Morgan played to the hilt was surely going to be compared to whoever she was going to play next. That’s why Amanda’s introduction, with natural doppelganger reactions, was smart.

Amanda never suspected the real reason why Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) chose her to front his theft attempt. She wasn’t aware that Hilary ever existed and therefore didn’t know that Colin selected her as part of a psychological play.
Devon was naturally thrown by Amanda’s identical resemblance to his late wife. He later chose to relinquish his inheritance to Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard). Thankfully, Colin eventually returned what Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) left to Devon in her will.
Y&R has withheld Amanda’s pursuit of whatever her biological connections are for a year. More time will have passed when new episodes begin to be shown next month. But the choice to have Devon be the first one to see Morgan’s character could be interpreted to mean that their link, through Hilary, will eventually be confirmed.

It feels unusual that Amanda, who said that she was an orphan, wouldn’t have wanted to confirm whether she and Hilary were related, or not. Wouldn’t that be a natural response, especially when Amanda’s profession involves a pursuit of the truth?
Having Hilary appear to Amanda, either in the actual form of her spirit, or purely as part of her imagination, would fit into this storyline. That pressure would compel Amanda to pursue answers regarding her backstory, which she, Devon, other connected characters, and the audience deserve to know.
