The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 9, tease that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will visit with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) in her suite at the Grand Phoenix.
Nick will want to help Phyllis resolve things with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) regarding their conflict over the hotel, and after initially balking, Phyllis will agree to let Nick talk with Victoria about it.
Meanwhile, down in the lobby, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) will tell Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) that she can’t stay in Genoa City to help him fight the charges against him.
Jill will take off just as Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) arrives to chastise Billy about lying to her and to the police about following Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) on the day of the shooting.
Amanda will tell Billy that’s he’s on probation, and that until the case is thrown out or there’s a not guilty verdict, they aren’t friends but will have a strictly professional relationship.
Over at Newman Enterprises, Victoria and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will argue over Billy’s innocence. Victor will be worried about Victoria’s kids, and he’ll vow to be there for them if Billy gets convicted, which will irk Victoria.
At Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) and Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) apartment, Elena will prepare for her date with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) with Lola’s encouragement.
Elena will wonder if she deserves a night out like this after what she did to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), but she’ll be willing to see where the evening takes her.
At Devon’s penthouse, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will meet with Devon to discuss business, but talk will soon turn to Billy. Lily will profess Billy’s innocence, but Devon won’t be so sure, and he’ll suggest that Lily cut ties with Billy before he brings her down with him.
Lily will get peeved and leave Devon’s place in a huff.
At Society, Elena and Nate will meet for their date, with each admitting that they’re nervous. That mutual admission will put them both at a little more ease, and they’ll end up having a nice time together, laughing and talking happily.
Soon, Devon will walk in to pick up takeout, and he’ll eyeball them from afar. After dinner, Elena will admit that she was a little worried when Devon walked in, but she’ll say that she’d like another “Nate date.”
At another table, Victoria and Nick will talk. After some initial talk about Adam and Billy, Nick will broach the topic of the Grand Phoenix, and he’ll say that he’d like to find a way to get Phyllis out from under Victoria’s thumb.
Victoria will balk, saying that she owns the majority stake of the hotel, which could be doing better without Phyllis. Nick will urge Victoria to reconsider, and Victoria will say that maybe there is a way to fix this.
At Chancellor Communications, Lily will arrive to find Billy waiting for her. Turns out, Billy will have come to leave a rose on Lily’s desk, which she’ll much appreciate.
Lily will say that they need to investigate to find out who the shooter really is, since the police will probably stop investigating the case. Billy will be all in.
Nick will return to Phyllis’ suite at the Grand Phoenix, where he’ll report that he and Victoria didn’t work out all the details, but that she seemed open to the idea of Phyllis getting the hotel back.
Phyllis will be thrilled. But over at Newman Enterprises, Victoria will talk with someone on the phone saying that she’s going to find a way to push Phyllis out and sell the building at a premium price. “Sorry, Nick,” Victoria will say after she hangs up.
Devon will return to his penthouse with his takeout, then he’ll call Amanda, who will be in her suite at the Grand Phoenix. Devon will ask Amanda to come share his takeout, and she’ll agree and get ready to go.
Amanda will then get a text from Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) about meeting with her and Billy tomorrow. “Name the time and place, and we’ll be there,” Amanda will text back.
On the island, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (Justin Gaston) will wake up at their resort. As it turns out, the resort will have rolled in a nice bed for them in their suite and they’ll have been enjoying the island paradise.
It will be the last night of their stay, and Abby will want to talk about what their life will be like when they return to Genoa City.
Abby and Chance will discuss, and they’ll decide to live in the Chancellor mansion, since Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), and Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) will be moving into their own house soon.
Abby will broach the topic of her last name, and Chance won’t have a preference there, so Abby will say that she wants to all in and be Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor.
Finally, Chance and Abby will muse about perhaps having something to celebrate in nine months, and they’ll pass the time by thinking about baby names. Chance will make a couple of suggestions that Abby will balk at, and she’ll suggest Cary for a boy and Diana for a girl.
Chance will love it, and he and Abby will kiss happily.
