The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) may face more consequences following his Jabot cheating debacle. Theo’s undoubtedly hoping he can put that mistake behind him – and perhaps he can when it comes to his career. Since Chancellor Communications needs help targeting younger demographics, Theo seems like just the person to pitch in.
However, bouncing back with a new job won’t smooth things over with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle). Lola really thought Theo had learned from his blunders. She may wonder if Theo’s ever going to change when she hears the full cheating story.
Theo truly regrets his actions and would undo them if he could, but Lola’s skittish about deception. After all, Lola and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) whole marriage was basically a lie. Kyle always wanted Summer Newman (Hunter King) and just tried to convince himself he could be happy with Lola – at least that’s what Y&R’s rewrite told us.
Kyle assured Lola that what they had was real, but Kyle’s deception crumbled her world. If Kyle hadn’t lied to himself and to Lola, she wouldn’t be going through a painful divorce right now.
Theo lied to Lola about Kendra and then lied to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about the pitch he was presenting. How can Lola know Theo’s being honest about his feelings when he’s a proven liar?
This isn’t necessarily about the specific lies Theo told; it’s about Theo’s selfishness and ability to lie so easily. Lola may have to ask herself some tough questions soon – like if she trusts Theo or if she’ll ever be able to.
Does Lola want another relationship where she has to wonder if her man’s telling the truth? Lola might end up deciding she deserves better!
Of course, it could spell trouble for Theo if he loses his chance at love. Lola might be the only thing keeping Theo from heading down a dark path. The Young and the Restless could stand to let Theo accept full-blown bad boy status as he goes rogue – and maybe he will if Lola dumps him.
It’s easy to imagine Theo deciding that trying to be a better person gets him nowhere. Theo might determine that his real mistake at Jabot was letting himself get outsmarted, not the cheating itself. Theo might also feel it was a mistake to fall for Lola when he could never live up to her standards.
