The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Thursday, September 3 – Chelsea Bans Connor from Victor – Sharon Keeps Adam’s Secret

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update and recap for Thursday, September 3, teases that some great action’s coming up. At Chancellor Communications, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is excited about all the buzz they’re getting and mentions Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) recent visit.

When Billy notes that Jack thinks he seems lighter, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) agrees – although she thought it was because of Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).

Billy points out that they talked about “leveling up from the friend zone,” but they quickly moved past it. Lily can tell there’s an attraction going on, but Billy denies flirting with Amanda. He hasn’t crossed any lines and doesn’t intend to in the future.

“You never ‘intend’ to cause trouble, Billy,” Lily says in Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode. She notes that trouble just tends to follow Billy anyway. Billy argues that he’s behaved himself with Lily – and they have “a whole hell of a lot more history” than Billy and Amanda do. That gets a “touché” and a laugh from Lily.

At the ranch, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) calls Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) – who answers at the penthouse. Chelsea plans to go home, but Adam insists he won’t be there when she returns – and he’d rather not say where he’s going. Adam wants Chelsea to look after Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), who’s going to need his mother.

Chelsea warns Adam DO NOT leave until she gets back! She wants to help Adam work through this, but he disconnects. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) appears and asks if Adam’s leaving town again. He wonders if Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) might be able to get through to Adam, which offends Chelsea.

“I’m going to be the one that gets Adam through this, not her,” Chelsea insists. After Chelsea leaves, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) comes home for lunch with Victor. She mentions the recent call from Dan Szymborski (Robert Gossett), and Victor claims he hasn’t heard from Dan in ages.

Talk turns to Adam potentially taking off again – and Victor has no clue where his son might go. Back at the penthouse, Chelsea’s frantic as she looks for Adam. She phones Adam, who’s outside Sharon’s door. Adam ignores the call and knocks before Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) opens up, which catches Adam off guard.

After Adam comes inside, Noah rants about the updates he received from Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). He knows Adam convinced Sharon to be his therapist and isn’t happy about it. Noah can tell Sharon’s drained and thinks it’s due to dealing with Adam’s never-ending issues.

Sharon is in crisis! This is a life-and-death situation, so Noah doesn’t get why Adam would want to distract from that. “Don’t you have enough on your conscience?” Noah asks just before Sharon walks in.

Sharon asks for a moment alone with Adam, so Noah leaves to get some air. Adam wants Sharon to listen and admits that he can’t stay at home anymore. Sharon reminds Adam that he promised that he wouldn’t leave town again. “I know – and I will stick to that,” Adam insists.

Adam argues that it’s just not going to work being around Chelsea and Connor now. Sharon protests that they’re Adam’s support system, but Adam can’t let Connor watch his dad fall apart. He also can’t put Chelsea in a position where she has to take care of both of them.

Adam thinks he needs to be alone – at least for now. It’ll be hard for Chelsea, but Adam feels like she’ll come to grips with it and can tell Connor some bogus story about a business trip. When Sharon asks where Adam will go, he says he knows a place.

Sharon wants to know where exactly so she can be sure it’s safe. She’s going to stress out about this, so Adam agrees to tell Sharon his location if she’ll keep it a secret. Sharon can’t tell Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), Chelsea, Victor or anyone else.

Although Sharon thinks it’s a mistake to cut Chelsea out, Adam insists this isn’t up for debate and needs time away. He also needs to know he can trust Sharon to keep his whereabouts a secret – just like Sharon trusted Adam after he pulled her out of the ranch fire. Adam gave Sharon a place to stay where no one could find her until she could decide what to do. “That’s not a fair comparison,” Sharon says.

Adam starts to leave and argues it’s better if Sharon doesn’t know where he’s going – that way she won’t have to lie. Sharon can’t let Adam leave like this, so she vows not to tell a soul. Adam texts Sharon the address of the motel he’ll be staying at, so she thanks him.

Noah returns and speaks with Adam privately while Sharon takes a call. Adam makes it clear that he’ll be handling things on his own from now on. Noah wants Adam to prove it by leaving Sharon alone. Adam respects Sharon for protecting his mother and promises he won’t show up on Sharon’s doorstep again.

Back at the ranch, Nikki doesn’t think Adam’s strong enough to deal with the situation he’s facing. She doesn’t think Adam will ever accept Victor’s help, so she wants to focus on Connor. Nikki wants to become a reliable source of love and security for the kid. Otherwise, Connor will be emotionally scarred for the rest of his life.

Chelsea returns to the ranch later and rants about Adam already being gone. Adam took a suitcase, which tells Chelsea he doesn’t plan on coming home anytime soon. Chelsea blames Sharon and Victor for this. Victor gets an earful for telling Adam about this horrible AJ Montalvo incident, but Victor argues that he had no choice.

Chelsea wonders why Victor didn’t just tell Adam when he was 11 years old. She feels like Victor should’ve gotten Adam psychological help instead of covering it up. Chelsea quickly rethinks that. “Better yet, for Adam’s sake you should’ve taken this to the grave,” Chelsea says on Thursday’s Y&R episode.

Victor thinks Adam has no one to blame but himself for bringing up the subject of AJ’s death. Chelsea feels like Victor should’ve gone on letting Adam believe Victor killed AJ. Nikki wonders if Victor was supposed to just let Adam keep holding it over his father’s head. “Yeah! Why not? I mean, who was it hurting really?” “You are unbelievable!” Nikki fires back.

Nikki brings up Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) suffering, but Chelsea thinks Adam would’ve done a great job running the company. She’s less concerned about Victoria’s job and more concerned about how shattered Adam is now. Chelsea thinks Victor threw Adam under the bus when the rest of his family started complaining.

Nikki suggests this is really about the lust for greed and power coming back to bite “Chadam.” She feels like Chelsea would’ve stopped Adam’s blackmail, but she just loved the idea of being married to Newman’s CEO. Nikki assumes that thrilled Chelsea’s “cold little grifter heart.” The Newmans were just supposed to roll over and let it happen!

Chelsea thinks Nikki should look in the mirror to place blame. Nikki wouldn’t even let Adam feel like part of the family for five seconds. Chelsea thinks the silver lining to all this is that she won’t feel obligated to bring Connor around anymore. Victor wonders what that’s supposed to mean.

“It means I’m going to show you what it really looks like when a parent protects their child,” Chelsea declares. Later, Victor’s concerned about Chelsea’s threat to keep Connor away from them. Nikki rants about Chelsea having a meltdown right in front of their eyes. Victor warns that they have to do everything to protect Connor. “Something has to be done about it very soon,” Victor says.

At Society, Amanda sits down at a table with Devon and seems nervous about the meeting they’ve set up. She surprises Devon by asking a personal question about Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan). Amanda was hoping Devon could tell her what day Hilary was born. “Is this for the reason that I think it’s for?” Devon wonders.

Amanda recaps what happened at the clinic and how she has he same rare blood type as Hilary. She acknowledges that she looks EXACTLY like Hilary and doesn’t know her parents. It’s getting to be too much to ignore, which Devon understands.

Amanda mentions not being certain of her own date of birth. Since Amanda was abandoned, child protective services estimated July 2. Devon admits Hilary’s was one day before – July 1. Things get awkward, but Amanda thinks she has to investigate.

Amanda asks about possibly getting something with Hilary’s DNA on it from Devon. She’s sorry and knows his is a huge invasion of privacy. Devon doesn’t think Amanda should be sorry about anything. The thought of Amanda and Hilary being related isn’t new to Devon. He gets why Amanda wants answers, but he isn’t sure it’s his place to get involved.

Devon doesn’t know how Hilary would feel about it and wants time to mull it over. Amanda understands and won’t put any pressure on Devon. She adds that she’ll be out of town on business for a few days.

Amanda’s going to give a DNA sample to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and if Devon decides he wants to participate, he can provide one for Hilary. If not, Amanda will let this go and won’t bother Devon about it ever again. After Amanda leaves, Devon’s deep in thought as he gazes an old “Hevon” wedding pic on his phone.

Amanda returns to the office and swabs her cheek for the DNA test. Billy returns and finds out what Amanda’s up to. Amanda repeats her clinic story, so Billy suggests Nate’s pushing her into it.

Since Amanda feels like Billy’s taking a dig at Nate, she fires back and implies that Billy’s jealous. Amanda thinks Billy’s real issue is with Nate and reminds Billy that they decided not to act on “whatever this is” between them.

Noah reconvenes with Sharon at home and warns her about Adam. Therapy isn’t just talking to someone. It gets emotional and intense, especially since Sharon’s dealing with her ex. Noah feels like Sharon needs to think about her family and how they feel about her not focusing on her health. Adam can do without Sharon, but her family can’t.

At a crummy motel, Adam plops his bag down before looking in the mirror and sulking on the bed. As other Y&R details emerge, we’ll give you the latest news.
