Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 19, reveal that Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) went into the interrogation room at the Salem PD with Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) and learned that Dr. Amanda Raynor (Victoria Platt) had taken Eli and Lani Price-Grant’s (Sal Stowers) twins.
Eli asked Xander why he’d want Dr. Raynor to take the twins. Xander looked confused.
Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) entered the squad room and informed Lani about something Xander said a couple months ago when he was joking around about adopting one of Lani’s twins.
Sarah went into the interrogation room and told Xander what she told Lani, and Xander got upset. Xander lamented that now Lani and Eli were wasting valuable time on him when Dr. Raynor was the real culprit.
Back in the squad room, Lani and Eli regrouped and determined that Xander simply had nothing to do with the twins’ kidnapping. Eli and Lani returned to the interrogation room and asked Xander for help. “We want you to make contact with Dr. Raynor,” Eli said. Xander balked, but eventually agreed.
Over at the Kiriakis mansion, Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) arrived for her dinner date with Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth), but she was met at the door by an unhappy Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers). Maggie shut the door in Bonnie’s face, and later Justin let Bonnie in and apologized for Maggie’s actions.
Bonnie and Justin went inside, and Maggie proceeded to be unreasonably rude to Bonnie, calling her cruel and selfish. Justin stuck up for Bonnie, but Maggie said that Justin saw Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) when he looked at Bonnie, and that Bonnie wasn’t Adrienne. Bonnie said she’d leave, but Justin said no.
Maggie went on, laying out all the horrible things that Bonnie has done over the years, and then Bonnie picked up a priceless doll figurine of Maggie’s and noted that her impulse is to attack right back when attacked, but that she wouldn’t, and she handed the doll to Justin.
Justin thought that showed that Bonnie was changing.
“Or maybe she’s just got more polish,” Maggie fumed before leaving the room. Justin and Bonnie regrouped and managed to have a nice dinner together. Justin noted that he’s wanted to smash those figurines himself sometimes, and Bonnie said that they could smash them together…or perhaps find another way to be naughty.
At the DiMera mansion, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) entered the living room to find Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) reading an article in The Intruder about how Chad cheated with the nanny. Apparently, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) gave The Intruder an exclusive interview.
As Jake and Chad were bickering about the article, Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) walked in upset with Chad about sleeping with an employee. Li said that the board didn’t approve, and Chad promptly resigned as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Li said that Jake was getting the CEO spot, and Chad reeled.
Up in Chad and Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) bedroom, Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) entered as Abigail was packing her bags. Kate tried to stick up for Chad, but Abigail couldn’t get past the fact that Chad took Gwen’s word over hers.
Later, Chad walked in, and Abigail said that she was packed and trying to decide if she was really leaving or not.
Chad attempted to defend himself, saying that he didn’t remember anything that happened that night with Gwen. Abigail fumed, saying that Gwen had said it was “mind blowing.”
Chad told Abigail about the article in The Intruder, and Abigail told Chad about how Gwen led her to the letter to Kate from Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford). Ultimately, Chad begged Abigail for another chance.
Back down in the living room, Jake and Kate talked about his new appointment as Dimera CEO. Kate helped Jake with some business tips, and she thought that Jake would do fine in his new role.
Jake was glad that they went public with their relationship before he became CEO, and soon he got a text saying he needed to go to the office.
After Jake took off, Chad arrived in the living room, and Kate learned that Abigail had left him. Chad and Kate chatted about Gwen, and Chad noted that there was really only one time that he ever thought Gwen was lying to him, but he shrugged it off.
Chad then rushed out of the room, saying that he was going to find out if he was right.
Jake arrived at the DiMera Enterprises CEO office and replaced Chad’s nameplate on the desk with his. Jake sat down in the CEO chair and told himself that he could do this and that he was ready for whatever walked through that door.
“Are you sure about that?” someone said. Jake looked up and Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) was standing in the office.
