General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, December 7, reveals that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) was urged to cling to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) wedding love while Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) exploded at “pure evil” Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
At the boxing gym, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) pointed out that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) was excited over going on a trip with his friends. Spencer told Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) that Esme really wanted to get to know all of them.
Josslyn thought they could do that over coffee or lunch, but Spencer didn’t feel like she was giving Esme a real chance. After Joss invited Spencer to open up about Esme, he suggested it was about more than her looks or intimacy.
Spencer talked about how Esme grew up in boarding school after her parents died young. She was one of the few students who stayed on campus over breaks, so that led to them bonding over loneliness and how hard it was to connect with other students.
Ever since, Spencer felt it had been the two of them against the world.
Josslyn referred to Esme as Spencer’s partner in crime, but he urged Joss to give his girlfriend the benefit of the doubt.
All Spencer wanted was a chance for Esme to show who she really was. Josslyn said she could definitely give Esme that – clearly thinking to herself that Esme would show her true colors!
At Kelly’s, Esme pestered Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) while she was busy with schoolwork. She couldn’t stop talking about the trip and hoped they could do some skiing if a good mountain was nearby.
Esme talked about how great it would be to cozy up to “Spencer” while Josslyn cozied up to Cameron Webber (William Lipton). She acknowledged that Trina would still be there and pretended to feel sorry for her due to her lack of a partner.
Esme suggested Trina could still bring a plus one, but Trina wasn’t interested – and Cameron pointed out they were all going as friends when he visited the table.
At one point, Esme brought up Trina almost getting together with Cam and thought it must hurt to see him with Josslyn, but Trina insisted she was happy for her pals.
As for Spencer, Esme made it clear that she never intended to let him go. Once Cameron wrapped up his shift, Esme decided to hitch a ride with him to the boxing gym. That’s where Cam and Esme met up with Josslyn and Spencer.
Joss mentioned that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) would likely let them have the cabin for their getaway – and Spencer privately assured Esme that Joss was willing to give her a shot.
Esme seemed skeptical, but Spencer argued that Josslyn doesn’t lie. Meanwhile, Josslyn basically told Cameron that she thought Spencer would be the one surprised by the real Esme.
At GH, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) listened to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) talk about how she couldn’t regret the purest love she’d ever known, which is what she found with Sonny in Nixon Falls.
After Willow hurried off, Sonny urged Nina not to text him again. Nina protested that she only sent that message to warn Sonny about Peter, but Sonny said that “son of a bitch” killed Jason and warned Peter was “gone.”
Sonny was adamant that Peter wouldn’t cause any more trouble. He added that it was time to move forward and start living separate lives, so Nina agreed.
When Willow caught up with Carly and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), they could tell she seemed upset. Sonny appeared and distracted the gang, so that gave Michael an opportunity to hug his dad and comfort him over Jason’s death.
After talk turned to Peter, Sonny insisted that he would pay the price for Jason’s grim fate.
Once Sonny left, Carly found herself feeling overwhelmed by the vending machine alone. She apologized when Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) came over, but she wasn’t even sure why she did.
Epiphany acknowledged the love between Carly and Jason before urging Carly to hold onto their wedding memories. Epiphany felt the love Jason and Carly felt that day was still there, and it was Carly’s to keep.
Nina also crossed paths with Willow and Michael, who thought maybe Nina should be off preparing for her preliminary hearing.
Once Nina pointed out she was just there to give Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) support, she opted to wait somewhere else. Willow was rather cold toward Nina, so Michael was happy to see her sympathy only went so far.
After overhearing Willow mention a trip to the chapel, Nina later fished to find out what she knew. Willow admitted she overheard everything that went down with Sonny, so that naturally left Nina alarmed.
It took a lot to make it happen, but Maxie convinced Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) to let her see Peter in the interrogation room. Mac made sure Peter was properly restrained before Maxie entered and delighted her ex.
Maxie quickly shut down Peter’s delusional idea of a reunion. She made it clear that Peter was going to prison and would never have a family with her and Louise.
Maxie ranted about all the moments she was missing with her daughter because of Peter and called him pure evil, so he guessed this was about that doctor at the hospital.
Maxie eventually realized Peter meant Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), so Peter commented on them being on a first name basis. He understood why Austin would be interested in a woman like Maxie, but he didn’t get why Maxie would be interested in a guy like Austin.
Maxie argued that it was none of Peter’s business what her love life looked like, but Peter argued that he was the only man for her. After Maxie told Peter to “go to hell,” she stomped out of the room.
As for Mac, he was concerned since Peter kept acting like Louise would stay gone for good if anything happened to him. Mac knew Peter was likely bluffing, but part of him felt the need to explore every lead.
Sonny also showed up and told Anna that he wanted to let Peter know exactly what was waiting for him. After Peter nodded off, Sonny slammed the door to jolt him awake for their confrontation.
