The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) donor contract may be in jeopardy. There’s the potential for Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) to exploit a loophole for Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) custody rights, so let’s talk about the battle that may be brewing.
Devon approached Abby and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) with the idea of shared custody, which clearly didn’t go over well. Now Abby feels like Devon’s suggesting she’s irresponsible and incapable of caring for her own child.
Abby doesn’t appreciate getting blindsided like this, so this is already turning into a big issue. Unfortunately, it could become a bigger one thanks to the contract situation.
Although the contract is solid in terms of what was inside, Chance wasn’t around to lock in his part. Y&R fans will recall that Abby handled all that on her own while Chance was undercover.
Abby herself fears that might be a problem in the December 30 episode, so that may be a hint about the trouble ahead.
Since Abby worked out the contract without Chance around to sign anything, Amanda may have a stronger case when it comes to pushing for Devon’s custody rights.
Devon feels an incredible bond with Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware), who’s become the most important thing in the world to him.
That’s why Devon won’t be able to back off on this – no matter how hard Abby pushes him to drop it.
Abby might try to work out some counterproposal eventually, but it may not be enough for Devon.
Devon wants something more official than just hanging out with Dominic at the Chancellor mansion.
Devon is looking for a legal guarantee on Dominic visitation and wants to build a life with him at his place, too.
It seems this will become nonnegotiable despite all the conflict. Devon will hate fighting with Abby, but he’ll feel the need to dig his heels in.
If it comes down to it, Amanda may exploit the fact that Chance was out of town when the agreement was made.
Devon is way out of line in many viewers’ eyes, but that won’t stop Amanda from doing whatever it takes to make him happy!
