The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 27, tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will come to visit Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) at the Chancellor Mansion.
It won’t be long before talk turns to Abby’s news about not being able to carry a baby, and Mariah will say that she’s very sorry.
Abby will gently introduce the idea of surrogacy, and Mariah will listen intently, happy that Chance and Abby are moving forward in their plans to have a baby. Mariah will even say that she wants to help Abby and Chance find a surrogate, and then Chance will smoothly make himself scarce.
Abby will tell Mariah that she is hoping that their surrogate won’t be a stranger, and eventually Mariah will get the drift that Abby wants her to be the surrogate.
Mariah will be absolutely shocked, and she’ll sit down weakly. Mariah will be speechless, and she’ll rush out, saying that she needs to talk with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks).
After Mariah’s abrupt departure, Abby and Chance will wonder if they need to start looking for someone else, but then Abby will think that perhaps they just need to give Mariah a little time. Either way, Abby will say that she’s ready for this journey to happen, and that one way or another, this is going to happen.
At Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) house, it will be a snow day for the kids, and so Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will arrive ready. He’ll be surprised when Victoria is there, and she’ll explain that her trip to Hawaii was canceled due to weather.
Victoria will persuade Billy to stay, and there will be some humorous moments as the kids pester their parents as Billy and Victoria try to work from home.
Victoria, Billy, and the kids will have a great day, with some quality family time. It will be just like old times, until Billy gets a call from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), who’s on her trip to New York City. Victoria will overhear Billy tell Lily that he misses her, and she’ll get upset.
At Crimson Lights, Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will be back from Los Angeles.
Summer and Kyle will recap what they learned about Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in Los Angeles – namely, that Sally faked a terminal disease and kidnapped Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden) to cover it up. Kyle will remind Summer that her goal was never to ruin Sally’s life.
On the patio, Tessa will meet with a still-stunned Mariah. Mariah will ask Tessa if she can picture her pregnant. Tessa will be shocked, and she’ll soon learn about Abby and Chance’s request.
Mariah will worry about the process failing, and about what nine months of carrying a baby would look like. Tessa will tell Mariah to take her time, and she’ll note that Mariah hasn’t yet said no.
At the Grand Phoenix, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will be talking when Summer texts saying that she wants to meet.
Summer will arrive, and after Nick goes, she’ll tell Phyllis all about the intel she got on Sally and how Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is on Sally’s side.
Phyllis won’t like the idea of Summer working with Sally, and Summer will ask her mom how she should use her newfound intel. Phyllis will advise Summer to be smart and keep the information about Sally to herself for now.
At Jabot, Sally will be trying to work when Jack enters and notices that something’s wrong. Sally will cover, and Jack will take off. Kyle will enter, and Sally will nervously fish for information about what he and Summer learned in Los Angeles.
Kyle will try to get away, and Sally will admit that she made mistakes, but that she needs and wants her job at Fenmore’s.
After Kyle goes, Sally will get a call, which will send her running to Society to track down Jack. Sally will disclose that she made a mistake on a Fenmore’s shipment and missed a deadline.
Jack will offer Sally a solution, and Sally will be grateful. Just then, Phyllis will walk in and spy Sally and Jack together.
Phyllis will get introduced to Sally, saying that she’s Summer’s mother. When Sally walks off to take a call, Phyllis will ask Jack what he’s doing with Sally. Jack will assume that Summer has told Phyllis about her problems with Sally.
Phyllis will ask Jack if he knows everything about Sally, then she’ll walk off. Sally will return, saying that her shipping crisis has been averted.
Back at Jabot, Summer and Kyle will talk briefly about Sally. Kyle will think that Sally is right where Summer wants her – on her best behavior.
Later, Summer will talk with Jack, noting that she had an eye-opening trip to Los Angeles. Sally will approach the office and hear this exchange, looking worried.
