General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Steve Burton is moving on from playing Jason Morgan, so is a full-time Days of Our Lives role ahead for the former GH star? It’s a possibility to consider since Burton is reprising the part of Harris Michaels for Peacock’s Beyond Salem series this July.
We’ve already seen multiple Days characters migrate from a short-term gig on this digital series to a long-term one on the main show.
Steve Burton could easily be next in line if Days of Our Lives can work out a deal for a lengthy contract.
In fact, Burton addressed that option in a recent issue of SOD.
When asked if Burton’s work on Beyond Salem made him want to do more with Days, he had an intriguing response.
Although Burton was initially drawn to the role because it was a short run, he found a warm welcome waiting for him and seemed really appreciative of the experience.
“I’m open to things,” Burton admitted. “I’m open to hearing things. But that’s up to them, that’s not up to me! We’ll see what happens!”
There’s no denying that Burton would bring a lot of General Hospital viewers over to Days of Our Lives.
It’d be a smart move for the show to expand Burton’s role as Harris Michaels, a character he first played back in 1988.
As for Burton’s time on GH, he insisted he had no hard feelings and talked about making some great memories there.
Burton also discussed how one door closed and another opened, so he embraced this DOOL gig and the fresh start that came with it.
Burton suggested that stepping away from the role of Jason Morgan offered a new path to head down. “I just feel like I have a new beginning now and it’s been incredible,” Burton said.
It sounds like Burton’s all about moving forward, so that could mean he’ll join the Days cast as a regular cast member.
We’ll see how it all plays out, but it’s something to think about now that Steve Burton seems to be putting Jason Morgan in the rearview mirror.
