The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, May 5, teases that Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) $250 million donation will stun Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) – and Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) secret wedding gift for Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will be revealed.
At Crimson Lights on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Ashland will spot Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and ask how she’s doing.
Victoria will wonder why Ashland is still in town and will hope he’s not harboring some delusion that she’ll forgive him.
On Victoria’s way out, she’ll bump into Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and reject his attempt to set aside time to talk.
Victoria will make it clear that regardless of Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) opinion, she’s not changing her mind about her co-CEO decision.
Ashland will pipe up to Adam about how Victoria turned them both down and will mock Adam for thinking he deserved a better title.
Adam will rub it in that Newman-Locke is now Newman Enterprises again and will think all Ashland has left is Victor’s money to keep him warm.
After Adam insists Ashland will never cleanse his actions in Victoria’s mind and heart, he’ll advise Ashland to stop trying.
Ashland will sit deep in thought before sending Nick a text in hopes of meeting.
In Victoria’s office, she’ll be surprised when she sees the new portrait Victor had commissioned for her.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will also explain that Victor supports Victoria’s co-CEO decision and hasn’t lost faith in her at all.
On the coffeehouse patio, Tessa will find Mariah sitting with Noah Newman (Rory Gibson).
They’ll be blown away as Tessa reveals that Crystal Porter (Morgan Obenreder) can come to the wedding.
It turns out all the charges against Crystal were dropped and all of Zack Stinnett’s (Ryan Ashton) last known associates have been locked up.
Tessa will mention that Crystal can come and go as she pleases, but the best part will be how all this happened.
At the cottage, Nick will make Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) some chocolate chip pancakes and call her out for just pushing them around the plate.
Next, Tessa will arrive with Mariah and Noah before spilling some wonderful news.
Tessa will share that Rey was instrumental in scoring Crystal her freedom since he found the cold case file and convinced Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) there wasn’t enough evidence for a conviction.
Michael then got the DA to drop the charges – and Rey also made sure the baddies who still presented a threat were locked up.
Tessa will note that Crystal can be her maid of honor, so Sharon will get emotional over this last gesture proving what an amazing man Rey was.
When Sharon suggests pulling a small memorial service together before she accompanies Rey to Miami tomorrow, Nick and the others will band together to make it happen.
However, Nick will get an intriguing text from Ashland along with a nudge from Sharon to go see what he wants.
At Society, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will show up late for her breakfast meeting with Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) after not getting much sleep.
Chloe will be taken aback over how deeply the loss of Rey is affecting Chelsea.
When Chloe asks how close Chelsea and Rey had grown before he died, Chelsea will act offended.
Chelsea will argue that they were just friends and wonder what Chloe is insinuating.
Chelsea will talk about how meaningful her talks with Rey were and how he gave her hope that she’d find acceptance again.
Chloe will push Chelsea to admit she was falling in love with Rey, but Chelsea will get agitated and insist that Rey was happily married to Sharon.
It’ll seem like Chloe is reading into the motives behind Chelsea’s grief, so Chelsea won’t want to discuss this anymore.
After Chloe and Chelsea go over some work stuff, Ashland will appear. That’ll rile Chelsea up since she’ll wonder if Ashland even tried to help Rey.
Chloe will grow concerned over Chelsea fixating on what happened that night.
Chloe will mention the warning signs of Chelsea going over the edge, so Chelsea will ask if Chloe thinks she’s losing it.
Chloe will contend that Chelsea’s reaction is perfectly natural since she’s overtired and grieving.
All Chloe will want to do is interrupt an unhealthy cycle of dealing with the pain before it goes any further.
Chelsea will decide Chloe’s right and opt to get some rest.
In the meantime, Nick will arrive and learn Ashland wants to donate half of the money Victor gave him to New Hope – that’s $250 million with no strings attached.
After Nick acts like Ashland is trying to buy his absolution, he’ll insist New Hope doesn’t need Ashland’s blood money.
Ashland will push Nick to stop being stubborn and will ask that all the work for the community be done in Rey Rosales’ name.
This will still feel like a bribe to Nick, who’ll think Ashland wants to get some redemption out of it. The tradeoff won’t be worth the risk in Nick’s opinion.
Ashland will question if Nick is really going to prioritize his hatred over the needs of his own organization.
Nick will admit that if he turns Ashland down, then the community misses out. If Nick accepts, then he’s complicit in Ashland’s attempts to absolve himself.
Ashland will push Nick to at least think about it, so Nick will leave without giving a firm answer.
Soon after, Nick will fill Nikki and Victoria in on Ashland’s latest move.
Nikki will be appalled over Ashland trying to take advantage of Rey’s death to clear his name.
Nick will want to turn down the offer, but Victoria will think they should take every penny.
After Victoria makes it clear that Ashland will never win her forgiveness in a million years, she’ll suggest they might as well take the money and put it to good use.
Back at the cottage, Sharon will confirm that the church is available for a small service this afternoon.
Sharon will go over plans with Mariah, Tessa and Noah, but she won’t want anything too sad – just something that captures Rey’s quietly joyful spirit.
Once Sharon is alone, she’ll talk to Rey’s photo about how much she misses him and still feels his presence.
Sharon will mention Rey’s perfect wedding gift since he set Tessa and Crystal’s reunion in motion in time for the nuptials.
Although Sharon won’t know how she’s supposed to manage without Rey and his pep talks, she’ll know that she’s going to find a way somehow.
There’ll be some emotional moments as Sharon reflects on her enduring love for Rey and tries to find some closure.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon has a long road of healing ahead of her, but she’s already taking the first steps.
