Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, July 4, reveals that Whitley King (Kim Coles) hid the newspaper from Abe Carver (James Reynolds), who noticed and demanded to know what she was keeping from him.
Whitley said a local man drowned in the river and acted like the story was too upsetting for Abe to read.
Abe didn’t like being handled, but Whitley teared up and pointed out that she was going through this, too. Whitley didn’t want Abe to have another seizure and insisted she couldn’t lose him, so Abe was apologetic.
Since Abe was lonely when Whitley went to work, he asked if “Theo” aka Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.) could stop by.
Whitley claimed that “Theo” already returned to South Africa and made excuses for why Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) couldn’t come over either.
However, Whitley reminded Abe that he could entertain himself by watching Body and Soul.
Since Lorna DeLorean (Lauren Koslow) was back on the show, Whitley was excited for Abe to see one of the all-time great “soap opera bitches.”
After Whitley left on Tuesday’s Days episode, Abe watched Lorna summon someone to pose as the true heir to the DeLorean fortune and was stunned when the camera panned over to “Theo.”
In Theo Carver’s (Cameron Johnson) suite at the Salem Inn, he read the newspaper article about Abe’s grim fate and heard a knock at the door.
It turned out to be Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) as well as Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers), who was home on furlough with an ankle monitor for Abe’s funeral.
Theo was upset over all the losses he’d faced, but Lani hugged him and pointed out that he still had her.
Lani felt that Abe would want them to stick together right now, so Theo seemed to find comfort in her presence.
When Theo heard fireworks outside, he remembered that it was the Fourth of July – which was Eli and Lani’s anniversary. Lani insisted they weren’t celebrating this year since it was just too hard without Abe.
Although Eli and Lani invited Theo to come with them to Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) place, he insisted there was something he had to do.
At Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson’s (Mary Beth Evans) apartment, Steve admitted that he thought things didn’t add up when it came to Abe’s demise. It was all just “too pat.”
Theo eventually showed up to thank Steve for helping with the search. Steve was sorry he couldn’t do more to help and offered his support along with Kayla.
Theo was also grateful for the autism charity donation that Steve and Kayla made in Abe’s name, so they assured him that they were happy to do it.
At home, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) had a nightmare about finding Abe down by the docks.
Before John could call Paulina and tell her the good news, Abe insisted he couldn’t stay and said goodbye to his old friend.
John woke up drenched in sweat and filled Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) in on the dream before they headed over to Steve and Kayla’s place.
Once they arrived, Marlena hugged Theo and offered her condolences along with John, who kept beating himself up over not being able to find Abe.
Theo knew that John and Steve did everything they could, so he remained thankful as he left on Tuesday’s Days episode.
Once Steve, Kayla, John and Marlena were alone, they went over how Abe’s outcome didn’t make sense.
John also mentioned the details of his dream, so Marlena thought maybe it was John’s way of sensing that something wasn’t right.
On Tuesday’s Days show, Steve and John decided they’d better get back to their search for Abe answers.
At Paulina’s apartment, Chanel tried and failed to cheer her up with the latest flower delivery. Although Chanel thought Paulina should shower and get dressed, Paulina just wanted to sit on the sofa for a while.
When Lani and Eli showed up, Paulina was thrilled to see her daughter had been temporarily released and embraced her.
Lani admitted part of her felt like Abe wasn’t gone, so she convinced Eli to take her to the police station so they could go over the evidence.
At the Salem PD, Lani reminisced about her love story with Eli before having a flashback of when she thought Abe was her biological father.
Although Lani was wrong, Eli assured her that Abe was her father in every way that mattered.
Lani looked at Abe’s file and found Jerry’s professional photo, so Eli mentioned that he was an actor. That led to Lani looking pensive.
Back with Paulina on Tuesday’s DOOL episode, she was taken aback when Whitley showed up on her doorstep.
