General Hospital Recap: Friday, March 31 – Carly Predicts Sonny & Nina Breakup – Ava Warns ‘Old Esme’ Will Be Back

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, March 31, reveals that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) was suspicious of Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) outside meeting spot, but Victor acted like he wanted to take advantage of the spring air.

Spencer urged Victor to move forward with his plan against Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), who could move out of state with Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) if she got a job and saved up some money.

Since Spencer didn’t want that, Victor suggested they should find compelling evidence of Esme’s dormant crimes.

Spencer worried about Ace going back to prison with Esme, but Victor said it’d just be for the first 18 months.

If Esme stayed free, then they ran the risk of her taking Ace to another state or disappearing with him.

Victor admitted his first choice was to take Esme out of the running altogether, but Spencer insisted Esme needed to go on trial and that his friends needed to see justice.

However, if the evidence wasn’t enough, Victor hinted about what might need to be done.

“Whatever happens to Esme, Baby Cassadine will remain in the family fold,” Victor said.

After Spencer left, Victor’s guard pointed out that he didn’t tell Spencer that he was leaving Port Charles.

Once Victor said that was on a need-to-know basis, he added that the plan Spencer had in mind would soon be irrelevant.

If Spencer knew the real plan, he’d never go along with it. Victor insisted if he had to keep lying to the lad, then so be it!

At the safe house, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) settled in with snacks and freaked over Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) TV interview ahead of the Nurses Ball.

There was a hiccup since one of the Magic Wands had to drop out, so Lucy called a car and summoned it to a nearby location.

Meanwhile, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) warned that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) couldn’t risk moving just yet since they’d be signing their death warrants.

Instead, Sonny pushed for a little time to make arrangements so that he could set up another safe house for them.

Until then, there could be no more visitors at the current hideout.

At the Quartermaine gatehouse, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) shouted for Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) to please answer her, so Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) arrived and wondered “what the hell” happened.

Nina revealed that Willow was weak, so she was just asking if she needed an ambulance.

After Willow said she was fine, Nina explained how Willow asked her in when she was dropping off a care package outside the door.

While Willow was in the kitchen, Nina suggested a truce for Willow’s sake, but Carly wound up pushing Nina’s buttons over Sonny.

Carly assumed Sonny sheltered Nina from his business, but Nina acted like they had an arrangement that worked for them.

Nevertheless, Carly felt that Sonny needed someone who’d stand by him through the good, the bad and the ugly of his business.

Ignorance wasn’t always bliss, so Carly hinted about this being the beginning of the end.

Nina was annoyed before Willow returned and expressed her worries about her imminent bone marrow transplant.

Carly and Nina wound up playing nice as they offered a joint pep talk.

At the Metro Court, Lucy cornered Maxie, who flipped out since Victor could shoot her if he saw her.

Even so, Lucy wanted to suggest Mac Scorpio (John J. York) as a fill-in option for the missing Magic Wand.

Maxie was grossed out since Mac is her stepdad, but she came up with an alternative and forced Lucy to head back to the safe house.

At one point, Lucy had to conceal herself while Maxie instructed a man with a cane.

Later, that same man ditched the cane and called Victor with updates on the luxury sedan that Lucy left in.

Victor was pleased and said he could take it from there before hanging up.

Once Victor reflected on Lucy being invaluable again, he declared that Valentin and Anna could hide no more!

Before Sonny left the safe house, he mentioned that he’d reach out to Spencer, who was close to his great-uncle.

Sonny thought that Spencer had a good head on his shoulders and would do the right thing by helping to find Victor.

After Sonny vowed to be in touch with Valentin and Anna regarding fresh hideout news, he said Victor would pay for Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) death.

Sonny also wanted to stop Victor before he did any more damage to Spencer.

Once Valentin and Anna were alone, she blamed herself for Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby’s (Heather Mazur) death.

Valentin said only Victor was to blame and assured Anna that they’d make him pay somehow.

At GH, Ava Jerome (Maura West) told Esme that the baby looked like Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss).

Although Esme didn’t regret Ace, she was sorry about what happened to Ava.

Ava ranted about her car being set on fire and her late daughter’s badge being planted – not to mention Esme had framed Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

Esme insisted that was “the old Esme” and complained about Spencer thinking the worst of her.

As for Nikolas, Esme felt he could stay gone and didn’t think she needed him for anything.

After Esme acted like Ava was better off without him too, she pointed out that Nikolas slept with her.

Ava wondered if Esme meant “the old Esme,” so Esme said touché and vowed to make up for the things she’d done.

That left Ava wondering how Esme would make things up to her specifically.

Ava also felt that the old version of Esme was still inside and that one day she’d come back.

Once Esme remembered who she really was, Ava warned that she would know – and then they’d finish what Esme started.

After Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) brought out a bag of supplies to help with Ace’s colic, Esme expressed her gratitude and waited for Spencer.

Once Spencer returned, Esme grumbled over how long he’d taken and wondered what could be more important than his brother.

Spencer said nothing and hustled Esme on the elevator with Ace.

Back with Ava, she talked to Austin about covering up a crime with him and felt they needed an explanation to explain his presence in her life. Ava then asked if Austin had a tux.

General Hospital spoilers say Austin and Ava could have a pretty wild night ahead of them at the Nurses Ball, so stay tuned to ABC’s GH.
