General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that a custody battle between Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) may be unavoidable. GH fans know Spencer, Esme and Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) are all living under Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) roof, but this arrangement can’t go on forever.
Spencer has already turned to Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) for help when it comes to getting custody of Ace.
Victor suggested manufacturing evidence against Esme if necessary, but that plan could backfire – especially on Spencer if he’s connected to the frame-up.
Of course, Victor has more pressing matters anyway and could potentially get arrested before he can help Spencer accomplish his goal.
Spencer may have to press on with a custody battle since he believes he’s the best person to raise his little brother.
Although Spencer would like to put Esme back in prison, that may be easier said than done.
Even if Esme regains her memories or has secretly faced a memory flood already, she may do a good job of hiding the truth.
In the end, Spencer may be pushed to his breaking point and go after custody of Ace in court like he planned.
If that indeed happens down the road, it might be the perfect time for Nikolas to deliver a courthouse surprise.
Nikolas is currently comatose in Mason Gatlin Holt’s (Nathanyael Grey) care, but he could awaken and eventually give Mason and any other employees the slip.
Since Adam Huss’ portrayal seems to have impressed plenty of fans, the show might decide to give him a shot as a permanent recast.
If not, they may already be on the hunt for a new Nikolas actor who could perhaps make his debut in the months ahead.
The plan was always to keep Nikolas off canvas for a bit, but there’s no way of knowing how long GH writers intend to drag out his absence.
There’s no denying that Nikolas’ return would shake things up in the best possible way when it comes to this custody situation.
It’s easy to imagine the judge getting ready to rule in Spencer & Esme’s custody case just before Nikolas barges through the courtroom doors and changes everything.
Nikolas could have quite a story to tell about his coma and recovery before fighting for custody of Ace himself.
If Nikolas has to throw some Cassadine money and threats around too, then so be it!
