In tonight’s The Rookie: Feds recap, Simone’s dad was out of the hospital. He was feeling better. Simone was doing her best to take care of him and she found that him helping to plan her birthday party took both of their minds off of his health. They both loved parties. Simone was feeling the best she’s ever felt about turning forty-nine.

She wanted to do something big and it was up to Cutty to bring all of her crazy ideas together. Only he was having issues with the guest list. Simone wanted to invite everyone. She did end up inviting everyone. It’s just that the majority of them haven’t RSVP’d.

Cutty was very understanding of the situation. He told Simone that this was LA. People tried to keep their schedule free and clear in case a better offer came along.

He couldn’t be mad at them for that. He would do the same thing if it was some other kid’s party. He tried to explain it to Simone and she wasn’t having it. She said nothing was more important than her birthday party. She invited everyone on her team at work. Carter said “no”, Laura said “maybe”, and Garza didn’t reply at all. And so Simone set out to convince them all to come to her party.

Simone planned on using her charm at work, but there was a case. FBI Special Agent Neal Wizaro woke up after being buried alive in the Las Vegas desert. He walked back to the city. He got help and he told authorities that he couldn’t remember anything other than the words “red” and “one”.

He kept repeating that to himself as he walked back to the city. He told the authorities that’s all he remembered. He also got tested. Neal had apparently been drugged with truth serum. The FBI were brought in to investigate what exactly happened to him and they had a theory.

They believed Neal was targeted for what he knew about his cases. Garza had his people fly out to Las Vegas. They questioned Neal themselves. They found out that he was in the city to investigate his fellow agent.

He was looking into Special Agent Tom Mathis after a car accident. It was supposed to be routine. Neal thought he could relax by getting a drink at his bar afterward and that was the last thing he remembered of what was a wild night. There were witnesses that said he was throwing a wild party in his room.

There was even a college kid who said Neal gave him a suitcase to watch. The kid thought it was a bomb. He didn’t move at all with the suitcase because Neal said he was getting help and that he had just solved a case only that help never arrived until people began looking into Neal’s life. Neal didn’t remember the college kid or what was so important about the suitcase. He didn’t remember the party in his room or the prostitutes he was partying with. They later tracked down one of the women.

She admitted she was hired by a third party to give Neal a great time. She gave a description of him. They went back to Neal to ask about the guy and he said that he was the agent he was investigating. It turns out Tom had gotten bored of his desk job right outside of Las Vegas. He decided to do some drug-running for a cartel. He used his federal badge to make several deliveries across the border with no one suspecting a thing until he got into a car accident. Tom began to worry that Neal suspected him. And so he made sure to get Neal drunk.

He put a put Neal with a bunch of half-naked women so that it looked like he was partying. He took some photos and that was it. He wasn’t the one that buried Neal. Tom was busying getting drugs when Neal was buried alive. Tom was easily caught when they went to go question him and they found out he had two cartel members waiting in his back office. It led to a shootout. Laura and Brendan arrested everybody. They also found a bunch of drugs hidden in Tom’s work car and so that’s what forced Tom to be honest about everything.

Tom didn’t drug Neal. That was someone else. The FBI kept looking into it and they found someone named Ridwan. Neal must have heard it as red-one when it was actually Ridwan. Ridwan was a name for an Arabian national. He came to the States with a team. They drugged Neal because they questioned him about a former mercenary that turned on his own people. The mercenary was named Jeoffrey Kerkoff. Neal handed Kirkoff’s case off to a US Marshall after the other man made a deal. And it was the name of this US Marshall that they wanted from Neal.

Neal sadly gave up her name. By time he remembered that, she was already dead. She had been given truth serum as well and then killed once she served her purpose. She gave up Kerkoff’s new name and location. Garza got that information. He went to Kerkoff’s house with his team. They managed to arrest one, Kerkoff killed two, and one guy got to his family before he could. Simone threw herself in the line of fire to save Kerkoff’s family. It was her birthday and she’s always lucky on her birthday. The bullet didn’t get pass her bulletproof vest.

Kerkoff’s family was saved. He was saved. He was going to need a new identity, but Garza became angry that someone like Kerkoff got a deal for a new life with lots of money in spite of all the people he killed. The ones that wanted him dead had only wanted that because he once murdered their families. And so Garza was having a hard time living with the deal they made with a monster.

But it was Simone’s birthday. She just got shot and so her team owed her one. They all went to her birthday party. She got great gifts. Most of them were from Brendan. Brendan likes to overcompensate and so Simone had a talk with him about that, but she will always love him and he will always love her. And people did show up for her birthday.

THE END!
