In tonight’s #TheVoice episode it was Part One of the Live Finals! Gwen was unfortunately out of the great game. She doesn’t have any artists in the Finals. However, this also gave her an opportunity to be an unbiased opinion tonight. The artists know they had a great night if they managed to impress Gwen.

They couldn’t exactly rely on their coaches because the coaches were focusing on winning and if not with them then with someone else. All except for John. Both Niall and Reba had two artists in the Finals. He just had the one. He saw potential in Lila Forde from way back. He realized he could win with her from way back. It’s why he was willing to sacrifice some of the better performers he had on his team.

John may have bet everything on one player, but such tactics doesn’t always work. Or it would have with Gwen when she was down to just Bias. It will all depend on what happens tonight. The finalists were all four chair turns. This season was the most four chair turns they’ve ever had on the show. The talent was only getting better with each episode and up first was Jacquie Roar. She was Country Rock. She also had a say in what she sang tonight. Reba said it was going to be Jacquie’s name on the album and so she got to choose what best fits her.

She chose “More Than a Feeling”. Jacquie got to be her Rock star best with this song. She got to have fun. She also was such a professional in the sense that she instantly knew when she had to hit those high notes as well as how to maintain them. Some things just couldn’t be taught and so Jacquie got herself here in the Finals. It was a little bittersweet for Gwen. Gwen had Jacquie on her team when she unfortunately let her go. And now that’s going to be kicking her into her next season on “The Voice”.

Next up was Lila. Lila was more Folk/Pop. She loves to turn classic songs into her own. She was super fortunate to have John as her coach because he knew to give Lila the freedom she needed to be herself. She chose the song “The Weight”. It was a 1968 classic. She managed to turn it into a bluesy folk song. She roped in the audience. She held everyone’s attention with a song she rearranged to sound like an original. It was very Lila. Gwen enjoyed the performance. John loved it. He said the authenticity was always there with Lila. And that’s why she deserved to win.

Mara Justine was up next. She was Soulful Rock. She was one of the youngest this season. She also loves the classics. She won her four chair turn with an Elton John song. She ended up on Niall’s team thanks to his ability to Steal her during the Knockouts. Which seemed worth it after her performance tonight. She took on a very tough song. She chose Adele’s “Turning Tables”. Adele is amazing. She just wasn’t the easiest artist to try and replicate. And so Mara had to be her amazing soulful self with this song – it also allowed her to show off her full range.

Then along comes Huntley. Huntley was a giant teddy bear. He was tall white dude with long blonde hair that was typically done in braids. He was also a Rocker at his heart. Only he switched things up tonight. He chose “Another Love”. It wasn’t really Rock. It wasn’t really Pop. It was heartfelt. It was a tearjerker that you might find yourself listening to during a breakup. Huntley sang the first part so softly that it sounded like he was crying. He was indeed crying earlier when he saw messages from his family and maybe there was some left over.

Huntley gave a beautiful rendition that would stay with people for a while. He might win because of that smokey voice. There were also performances from Country musicians. There were jokes from Carson. They were the usual trickery amongst the coaches and it was a fun night to be had. Next up was Ruby Leigh. She was in fact the youngest person tonight. She was still a baby and she loves old Country. She knows how to yodel. She was a young throwback. She chose that again when she went with Elvis Presley.

Ruby performed “Suspicious Minds”. It was more of an up tempo song. Ruby had an interview with Carson and it resulted in bringing up some bad memories. Memories she couldn’t shake during rehearsals. Reba had to remind her that she was so close to winning and she has to bring the energy. Ruby has the voice. She has the charisma. The only downside was that his baby had no idea about the grit behind this song. She still did really well with it only she needed a few more of life experiences before she was ready to truly perform it.

Then came the second round. Jacquie was up first again. Her ballad of the night was “White Satin”. Which she also wore in a gown. Jacquie was usually in leather and rocked out. Tonight she was dressed up to the nines. She looked so beautiful. She also chose a song that was beautiful as well as still had a rocker element to it. Jacquie was amazing. She’s always amazing. She was a true threat that shouldn’t be ignored during the voting tonight. And next up was Lila who took her inspiration from the Beatles.

Lila chose the song “Across the Universe”. There was even someone with a sitar in the band playing behind her. Lila really took this song back to its original time and she transported everyone with her there. The song was her ballad. Except her earlier performance sounded more like a ballad. There was no up tempo number that really had her stomping. She was relaxed throughout all of tonight. Maybe that’s where she needed to be to give stellar performances because no one could hate anything she did tonight.

Mara was next up. She really rocked it out for her up tempo song. She performed “Piece of My Heart”. She even looked a little like Janis Joplin during her performance. She really was out there and demanding that he take another little piece of her heart. She was a powerhouse. Reba also thought she was cute as a button. Mara showed off many skills tonight. Now it was up to the voters to vote for her. All while never forgetting Jacquie or Lila during the voting process later on. And the one group that does need a reminder to vote was Ruby’s.

Ruby had a second go at impressing America. She chose “Desperado”. It was a Country Ballad. She was once again without her guitar and that might not be the best thing. She truly comes alive when she’s performing with her guitar. Without it, her up temp song sounded like a ballad rather than king of rock. The saving grace was that this second ballad of hers sounded much prettier. She also got to have the best night with her family right there in the audience. The baby could win for her style.

Jacquie could win for her roar. Lila could win by rearranging a lullaby. Huntley could win because of a smoky voice and he tested that with his up tempo song. He performed “Higher” by Creed. He decked out in rocker attire. He left his long flowing locks free. He transported everyone to a rock concert. And they all ended up having a great time.

Gwen loves being transported back to 1995 and Huntley did that.

And now is the time for America to vote for everyone you like!

THE END!
