General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) have been clashing ever since Jason’s comeback, but that doesn’t mean the tension will last forever. Deep down, part of Sam will always love Jason – and that part of her could ultimately drive the story in a new direction.
Based on plenty of behind-the-scenes info and even dialogue on the show itself, Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) have been planted firmly in the friend zone.
GH writers just don’t seem interested in revisiting Carly and Jason as a romantic pairing – at least not anytime soon.
Of course, that makes it more likely that Jason and Sam will end up on the road to a reunion eventually.
In fact, Sam and Jason may be on that road right now and just not realize it yet.
Jason’s return has really shaken Sam up – mostly because she fears Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) is going to get hurt somehow.
Whether it’s physical danger or just more emotional despair if Jason bolts again, Sam has been trying to keep Jason at a distance to protect their son.
However, Sam may be protecting herself on some level, too.
Maybe there’s some piece of Sam that’s worried she’ll fall for Jason all over again if she lets him get too close.
That’s a problem for multiple reasons, but the most important one involves Sam’s happy relationship with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
Sam would never want to do anything to betray Dante or ruin the stable life they’ve built together.
At the same time, all Sam’s protesting about Jason and the danger he brings to the table could mean something deeper.
Jason also represents a certain sense of excitement that Sam perhaps doesn’t have with Dante by her side.
Sam and Jason are always going to be connected through Danny, so they’ll be part of any storyline that involves him moving forward.
If all the danger hints add up to Danny landing in some trouble, Jason and Sam may have to work as a team to save him.
It’d be great if Jason ultimately isn’t responsible for whatever risky situation might be on the horizon.
Jason could play the hero for Danny and potentially get Sam to view him with a fresh perspective.
Then again, Sam and Jason could be the ones to land in dangerous circumstances instead.
It’d be soapy if the show trapped Jason and Sam together as a way to bring their old feelings to the surface.
One way or another, there could be some scenario where Sam and Jason share a forbidden kiss.
It could shake Sam’s world up even further and leave her with questions about who her heart really belongs to.
