General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) could be arrested and thrown behind bars. Between Sonny’s attack on Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and now the one on Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), he could be considered a serious threat to the community.
With that in mind, there’s no guarantee the judge will allow Sonny out on bail. Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) can normally work legal magic for Sonny, but things may be different now that the show’s creating such a miserable downward spiral for the character.
Even if Sonny does get out on bail for now, he could still be facing major prison time eventually.
Sonny may have to consider the possibility that he could land at Pentonville for a serious stint.
If that happens, who will run Sonny’s business in his absence?
Ava Jerome (Maura West) has mob roots and could potentially start angling to take over Sonny’s organization.
After all, John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) recently grilled Ava and questioned if a takeover might be her goal.
Even if it wasn’t before, that could turn into Ava’s objective as this storyline moves forward.
Ava has made it her mission to become the only person Sonny can truly trust.
Sonny is obviously going to need someone to run the mob show if he’s unavailable, so he may decide Ava is the only option.
If Sonny decides to put Ava in charge, GH spoilers suggest that could lead to plenty of backlash.
People like Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) certainly don’t trust Ava, so they may worry about her causing chaos and bringing danger to anyone connected to the Corinthos family.
However, things could get even worse if Sonny vacates his spot without leaving anyone else at the helm.
Brick (Stephen A. Smith) might be an option to fill in, but it’s easy to imagine Sonny turning against him too soon enough.
Ava is the one who’s consistently coddled Sonny and told him what he wanted to hear.
That may earn Ava a chance at a mob takeover, but everything could change once the truth about Sonny’s altered meds comes out.
Sonny has legitimate reasons for exhibiting such wild behavior, so his sabotaged prescription should become his get-out-of-jail-free card eventually.
