In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Simone used what little time she has off to help her grandma move. They were moving her grandma into a retirement community. Her grandma suffers from Alzheimer’s. She needed constant monitoring. She often mistakes Simone for her late mother.
Simone goes along with it sometimes because it’s easier than correcting her grandma. After she was done with moving her grandma, she rushed to the hospital where she had a big day. It was a big day for all the interns. They were about to be given an important test and Bailey pretty much demanded that they all past or they’ll get kicked out of the program.
This latest batch of interns doesn’t really have a fall back plan. They got into Grey Sloane Memorial because they were available at the last minute. Not because they were the best. They couldn’t risk failing out at this hospital. They also had to finish their procedure log. Jules, Blue, and Simone were assigned to the pit.
Jules and Blue have a bet going on. They bet each other that they could finish their procedure log before the other. The loser pays for drinks at the bar across the street. They kept adding to the bet as the day went on. They added fries. They added dinner.
They also started gossiping when they met Gillian. Gillian came in with her girlfriend. They were making out at a known make-out spot and they accidentally put the car in drive. They drove off a cliff. Cassandra was fine. Gillian hit her head. It was killing her. The doctors wanted a cat scan before they could release her.
The juicy part of the story was that Gillian’s husband came to the hospital to check on her. Yeah, Aaron didn’t know his wife was having a lesbian affair with the single mom from the PTA meetings.
Gillian lied to his face that she got into a car accident with Cassanda. She was claiming Cassandra rearended her. Aaron thought they should sue Cassandra for damages for what she did to the car and to Gillian. The poor man didn’t realize that his wife had moved pass pitying Cassandra.
The two have been having an affair for years. Its why they have to sneak around. Aaron just thought Gillian was being kind to Cassandra because she was raising kids by herself. And it turns out Gillian planned on leaving Aaron for Cassandra the moment their kids were in college.
The whole thing was messy. The doctors couldn’t help gossiping about it. They made sure not to do it around Aaron. Which didn’t count for much when he started questioning his wife.
He was wondering how she hit her head. The airbags would have prevented her from hitting the dashboard. He thought that maybe Gillian’s car flipped. He was saying that Cassandra could never drive their kids again if she was going to be so irresponsible and so that’s when Gillian yelled to him that she’s been having an affair with Cassandra for the past two years.
Aaron ran off after she was done yelling. Gillian meanwhile told her doctors that her head stops hurting when she’s yelling. She thought she was fine earlier. They thought differently once the yelling helped. She was rushed into doing another cat scan. This time they found out she has an injury from whiplash.
Gillian kept screaming the whole way because it helps with her head. Her doctors understood why she did it, but they didn’t like it. Her situation was also bringing up emotions with Owen.
Owen has been pretty distance with his wife. Teddy recently had a medical scare and Owen wasn’t good with being under pressure. Owen was there to help with everything. He handled the kids just fine. He kept watch on Teddy. He seemed to be doing amazingly and so the worrying part was that he hasn’t touched his wife.
Teddy thought that was sweet at first. Him not rushing her into sex after a medical scare. She was now questioning that and it didn’t help that Owen wasn’t talking to her. They talked about the kids. They talked about the house. They weren’t talking about anything else. Or having real conversations.
The last time their communication broke down was when Owen was breaking the law. Was he doing the same thing again? Simone also came face to face with her worst fears. She was treating a patient that injured his wrist. He fractured it and his pregnant wife showed up at the hospital with their toddler.
Simone noticed that the wife was having contractions. She moved her upstairs to the Gynecological department. Simone stayed with Miles. She brought him up to the room to check on his wife after he was done getting cast. They both learned that his wife was moved to surgery.
Lauren had complications. They had to deliver the baby. They also had to give her a hysterectomy. Simone’s mother died in childbirth with her. When she went to Lauren, she saw a woman dying and it made her picture her mother. It even made her freeze. She was frozen in the OR. Bailey asked her to help.
She didn’t care about the procedure log in that moment only Simone was frozen. Bailey was lucky when she was able to save Lauren’s life. Lauren will be moved to an ICU where she could be neighbors with Dorian.
Dorian thought he was finally going to leave the ICU. He was finally getting better. Lucas and Mika were asked to move him and they were so happy for him. That all went away when Dorian developed a condition that attached his stomach to his surgery scar. He has to be moved back to the ICU. He also couldn’t eat for the next few days.
Lucas was so disappointed for him that he snapped at Dorian’s friends. His friends had picked up fast food for him. Lucas told him that counts for nothing when they failed to show up for the past fifty-one days since Dorian was shot.
Mika was forced to tell him to take a walk. Mika and Lucas talked afterwards. They finally reconnected and their friendship was on the mend. Elsewhere, Jo decided to give up General Surgery. She was going to focus solely on being an OBGYN. She nearly lost a patient and she didn’t want to go through that again.
Owen also told Teddy that he was worried about losing her or pushing her too soon. He’s been talking about it with his therapist when he wants to talk to her and so they went back to what they’re used to. They had sex in the on call room.
And Bailey found a drinking depressed Simone after their shifts had ended. She brought Simone back to the house and filled her up with coffee. She also told her why its important to have women like there to make the calls. They weren’t going to miss what others did.
