The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that fans are always excited to see familiar faces in Genoa City, so could Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) be next in line? Moore hinted about the possibility of a Y&R return in a new interview with First for Women, so let’s talk about that.
Although Moore stars as the popular character of Hondo on S.W.A.T., the show is currently building toward its last episode.
This is supposed to be the seventh and final season, but Moore isn’t giving up on another renewal just yet.
When S.W.A.T. was abruptly canceled last year, Moore generated lots of fan support and helped get the decision overturned.
S.W.A.T. was ultimately renewed one last time for a 13-episode season, but Moore is leaving the door open for whatever happens – whether it be the show’s true finale or another last-minute save.
That said, Moore made it clear that he’ll never forget his soap roots and that he’s willing to come home to GC – at least temporarily.
“If The Young and the Restless called me today, I would go,” Moore said. The Y&R alum insisted “you never forget where you came from” and added that the cliché was true.
If this is genuinely the end of S.W.A.T., then Shemar Moore will find himself in need of another job.
Moore hinted that he might be willing to do a lengthier stay at Y&R as a result, but he doesn’t seem eager for Malcolm Winters to move back to Genoa City permanently.
“Now…when I’m unemployed, you might get me on Young and the Restless a little longer. But will I go back for a contract? No, probably not,” Moore admitted.
Instead, Moore wants to keep doing other things and evolving his career.
No one can blame Moore for that after the success he’s found, but it’s still nice to think of him coming back to GC for a visit – no matter how long it might be.
Fans will keep hoping Moore might return as Y&R’s Malcolm Winters or maybe even make a debut on The Gates, which is the soap CBS is developing that centers around a wealthy Black family in a gated community.
