Martin had just been thrown out of his family home by Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) in the aftermath of learning the truth about his husband’s traumatic night, two years ago.
While “everyone” wasn’t in the know about Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Martin’s attack on the side of the road that resulted in the passing of an attacker all those years ago, it may feel like it once Nicole gets the whole story.
During the July 17 show, Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) filled Nicole in on Martin’s odd press conference the day before, and his excuse for shutting it down, which was a family emergency.
Nicole felt very confused when Vanessa relayed what happened and could sense something ‘odd’ was up.

Speaking of Martin’s scandal, Beyond the Gates spoilers indicate that Samantha Richardson (Najah Jackson) will make a plea to her dad, so it sounds like she could beg Smitty to allow her ‘pops’ to come home.
Samantha went to bat for Martin during the July 17 show, while her twin brother, Tyrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller), was #TeamSmitty, so it seems as if Martin and Smitty aren’t the only ones divided over this issue.
With that said, will Smitty budge and allow Martin back into the family home and his heart?
Across town, Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik) will throw Jacob off a case and take charge of an investigation.
Sounds like this has to do with Kenny’s (Jason Vendryes) demise.
While Jacob does not know that Detective Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy) was behind it, fans (and Elon) do, so the police chief likely wants Jacob off the case, so he doesn’t get to the bottom of things.
Elon knows his son is a solid investigator and won’t let any stone be left unturned.
Beyond the Gates spoilers hint that both Marcel and Elon are wrapped up in Martin’s secret, and the number of people who are learning about it is growing as the days go by, so will Jacob be pulled into all this or kept left in the dark?
