There are certain rules to being a cop. One of them was not to make promises. Jonah broke that rule when he promised a nice old lady that he would keep an eye out on her neighbor and hopefully find him. The neighbor wasn’t elderly. He was twenty-four. He didn’t really go out a lot. He spends most of the time with Mrs. Katz. He missed puzzles that morning. She felt that wasn’t like him because he would have called if he couldn’t make it and so she called the cops. She told them that her neighbor was a scavenger hunter. He made ten grand thanks to the help of a website called “Bulleye”.
Jonah promised they’d find him. Sean later told him that he overpromised because they weren’t detectives. They don’t investigate anything. They’re beat cops. They spent most of the time driving around their route and so they bent the rules a little. They weren’t the only ones. Lena’s old partner was working with her again on a new case. Detective Brian Rogers wasn’t first up on the Drug Control Unit. However, he heard that Lena was working the case and so he pushed his way in on it. He has feelings for her.
Lena has her own set of rules. This included never dating her partner. This put Brian out in the cold. Now, they were no longer partners and he was still interested. Neither of them were dating anyone. It was the perfect time. The case they were working on was technically a murder case. The victim was Kathy Sullivan. She overdosed and rather than get her help – someone threw her into the harbor. Kathy was still found with some drugs in her pocket. It was the new stuff called “Killer Whale”. It was being pushed by a man named Mitchell Edgars.
Brian has been investigating him for a while. He was hoping this case could be the break they need. There was a policy in place that they release lower offenders without charges and focus on the major drug dealers. Kathy was a lower offender. Her whole family was notorious addicts. Her brother goes by the nickname of Sully and he’s been clean for eighteen months. He finally got custody of his son back. He wanted to end the curse with him. Kathy t
Sully doesn’t know where she got the drugs from or her connections. He’s been out of the game for a while. He didn’t want his son around that anymore. Or so he claimed. Sully was wearing a medallion when they spoke to him and that same medallion was found on their best suspect in his sister’s murder. The guy was a low level drug dealer. He worked under Edgars’s lieutenants. He was also at the harbor that morning giving tours and so he knew who the victim was all along. He could have just said rather than running her fingerprints through the database.
Well, that guy was dumb as well as dead now. Did Sully kill him? It would make sense if he did. He would want revenge for his sister and so they brought in Sully for questioning. Sully swears he didn’t kill Bones. Lena has known him for a while. She believes him. She could see he doesn’t want to risk losing custody again. Sully was there though. He admitted as much. He went looking for answers and Bones was acting all cagey. It was as if he was afraid of someone besides the upset brother right in front of him.
Lena and Danny thought about it. They realized that Bones was in trouble with his boss. The girl OD’d and she was found. She was also found with a bag of their labelled drugs in her pocket. Bones should’ve at least gotten rid of that. From there, they found Edgars entering the property and leaving covered in blood. He killed his own man as a lesson for the others. He was arrested and they tacked on drug charges. The Killer Whale was off the streets. Jonah and Sean also ignored Sean’s dad. They kept looking for Murray Bennett.
They found him by solving the clues on scavenger hunt website. It turns out Murray got trapped under a case full of items and his phone died. He got treasure in the end. He also got to keep his life because Sean and Jonah found him in time. Sarah was at that family dinner where they got help with the clues. Her potential stepdaughter was happy that the whole family wasn’t as lame as her father’s girlfriend. Sarah was in charge of her with the boyfriend/dad out of town. She found out that Phoebe was underage drinking with older boys and she shut that down quick.
Sarah cares for Phoebe. She was also going to be moving in with her and her dad. Seeing Sarah with her own stepmother showed Phoebe that they weren’t all bad. Speaking of which, the District Attorney helped a rape victim get justice. She did everything right by immediately reporting it. She just left out that she did porn back in college. Her ADA feared her porn past would tank the rape case against her perpetrator. Only they proved that the perp was stalking his victims for months if not years before he acted on it.
