Yeah, Carrie Ann was back tonight! The three judges even things out again. Carrie Ann had been sick last week and so there were no eliminations with her gone, but it also meant it was going to be a double elimination this week. Corey and Andy were on the bottom of the pile with their dance partners. They stood a chance of going home at the start of the episode. Only some will remember that its not always about the scores. The fan base needed to be included. The fans were the ones voting in. They’ve often kept some weaker dancers around longer than they should have and so anything can happen all the way to the finale.

The theme tonight was “One Hit Wonders”! Up first was Alix and Val. They were doing the Jive to “Mambo Number Five”. The Jive requires a lot of stamina. There was kicks, flicks, and it was all high-paced. Alix struggled with this dance at first. She was often turned around in practice sessions. Not that anyone could tell when the finished product was released. Alix did really well. Val gave her a difficult routine and she was able to tackle it. She made Carrie Ann so excited to be back. She loved that dance. The same for Derek. They were running out of time when it was Burno’s turn to speak.

Bruno was asked to say one word that perfectly encapsulates this dance for him. He broke that rule because this was Bruno. He couldn’t help it. He said “Breakthrough, my love”. It was three words and it showed how much he enjoyed this dance. The judges later gave their scores. They each gave this duo a seven. They received three sevens and a score of twenty-one out of thirty. It was great for their second week. Next up was Danielle and Pasha. Danielle was kept awake at night because of her mistakes.

Danielle and Pasha were given the Cha Cha. They danced it to the “Rhythm of the Night”. This song came out when Danielle was auditioning for Boy Meets World. She remembered vividly because she was belting out to it with her mom in the car. They loved this song. It brought back happy memories. It also reminded her that anything was possible. She did that shoulder thing again that Bruno hates. Other than that, Bruno loved this dance. He said it was right the mix of sensual and spice. He loved her dance.

Carrie later said that there was a sophistication with the way she was telling the story of the dance. Derek was the third judge and so he could only say one word. His one word was “good”. Daniel received a seven from Carrie Ann. Two sixes from Derek and Bruno. It leaves her the score of nineteen out of thirty. It was also her first seven this season. It gave her a lot to celebrate as well as a few things to work on. Next up was Andy and Emma. They had a Tango this week. The Tango was very serious.

Andy was known as a comedian. He revealed tonight that he also has a darker side. He was full of anxiety and dancing as it happens was a great form of exercise. It helped him feel better about himself. Andy and Emma danced their Tango to “It’s Raining Men”. It was very entertaining. Andy definitely got better with this dance. Derek later said that he was the reason they created the show. For people to become interested in the joys of ballroom. Andy did so well that it showed in his scores tonight.

Andy got two fives and a six from Carrie Ann. He got a score of sixteen out of thirty. It was definitely an improvement over last week. Hence why Carrie Ann’s one word for him was “improved”. Next up was Lauren and Brandon. They were given the Foxtrot this week. The Foxtrot was a very classic dance. Lauren has a sassy side. It couldn’t dominate the dance tonight and it didn’t. She and her partner performed to “Love Fool”. Why are all the one hit wonders from the nineties? Anyways, Jordan and Brandon danced beautifully.

There was one moment that took Derek out of the storytelling. It was the one thing and it was a sassy turn. He enjoyed the rest. They all enjoyed this dance. The judges later gave her sevens. She was left with a score of twenty-one out of thirty. Next up was Jordan and Ezra. Jordan was told last week that her dance didn’t really look like the dance she was given. They advised her to stick to the classic steps. They also added the element of the Jive this week. The Jive matched Jordan’s energy like nothing else.

Jordan was a hyperactive kid. She was also in great shape. She kept up with the Jive. She impressed the judges as she danced with her partner to “She’s A Maniac”. She reminded Carrie Ann of the great Tina Turner. That part was important because of how Carrie Ann eventually scored this duo. Jordan and Erza soon received their first eight and the first eight of the season from Carrie Ann. Derek and Bruno gave them sevens. They have a score of twenty-two. They were high up on the board. And next up was someone wanting to climb up that board.

Corey and Jenna were next. They were given the Cha Cha. Corey didn’t want to be on the bottom again. He put more into his practice sessions this week and he and his partner danced to “Baby Got Back”. It was better than his previous, but not by much. It still left a lot of room for improvement. Corey was still getting used to the heavy schedule when it came to tonight’s performance. His one word tonight was better. It doesn’t great or even good. Its just meant better from last week. The judges each gave him a five. He and Jenna have a score of fifteen out of thirty.

Next up was Jen and Jan. They were given the Quick Step. It might have been a little too quick for Jen. Which she didn’t let deter her for long. She landed in the middle of the pack last week. She wanted to climb up the leaderboard tonight. She and Ezra performed to “Take On Me”. This song also brought back a fond memory for Jen. She was used to dancing to it with her toddler. They were admittedly dancing on the countertops during her Momtock stage. Now, here she was dancing with an adult to it.

Jen had great fun with this dance. There was one left that wasn’t flawless and she was still figuring out what to do with her shoulders. Only it was still a great performance. She received an eight from Carrie Ann. Then two sevens from Derek and Bruno. They have a score of twenty-two out of thirty. Next up was Robert and Whitney. They had a great night last time. They had an even better one tonight. They had the Tango. They danced to the first song from the new millennium. It was “Move Your Feet”. It was from 2002 and was actually older than Robert himself.

Robert was such a likeable guy. He brought that same energy to dance. He and Whitney easily scored their first eight from Carrie Ann. She was in a really good mood tonight. They got sevens from the guys. It left them with a score of twenty-two out of thirty. It kept them near the top of the board again. Next up was Elaine and Alan. They were given something to match Elaine’s energy as well. They had the Jive. They incorporated the Jive into the traditional choreography to go with the song “Hey Mickey”.

Plus, Elaine got to meet the singer. She remains iconic and Elaine was walking on cloud nine tonight. She and her partner did really well tonight. They had such great fun that made everyone want to dance with them. They were a few things that needed improvement. Much like the shoulders. Though it was better than their dance last week. Elaine and Alan got three sevens out of the judges. It left them with a score of twenty-one out of thirty. It helped them move up the board a little more. It also reminded Elaine how much she loves to dance.

Next up was Baron and Brit. They were near the bottom last time. Its hard for someone with Baron’s height to keep in tune and he somehow did it. He started off his Samba very smoothly with Brit. They performed to “Return Of the Mac”. Again, it was a strong start that the judges saw couldn’t be maintained. It fell apart a little in the middle. Carrie Ann noticed it. She brought it up and the audience actually booed her for her comments. The other judges said pretty much the same. It had heart. It just didn’t have much technique.

They still got three sixes. It was a score of eighteen out of thirty. It wasn’t too bad of a score. Next up was Whitney and Mark. They received an accidental eight last week. They wanted to turn that into a real eight tonight. They were given the Cha Cha. The rehearsals for this one was tough because it went against all the rules Whitney had just learned with the previous dance. She was able to catch up. She and Mark added the necessary spice to Cha Cha too. It was a great dance. Whitney was known as the villain and somehow people were rooting for her now.

They performed to “Play that Funky Music”. They put on a great show and they scored a very real eight from Bruno this time. They also scored sevens from Derek and Carrie Ann. They had a score of twenty-two out of thirty. Next up was Hilaria and Gleb. They had the Tango tonight. Hilaria relocated her family to LA so that she doesn’t have to keep flying back and forth. It also gives her the chance to remain hands on with all seven of her kids. Their Tango was to “What Is Love”. It was iconic in itself thanks to SNL.

This dance earned Hilaria and Gleb three sevens from the judges. It was a score of twenty-one out of thirty. Next up was Dylan and Daniella. He was a beginner and yet his hip action was expert level. They had the Samba tonight. They danced to another classic song called “Macarena”. It was so classic that it actually came back around. The dance was fun. Dylan gave it a lot of hip action. It just wasn’t as great as it could be. At least not for Derek. Derek ended up giving him a six even as the other two judges gave him seven. He has a score of twenty out of thirty.

It wasn’t too bad. It only made Dylan feel bad because he thought he was bringing down Dany. Scott feared the same thing with his own partner, Rylee. They were near the bottom with their scores. Its why they were worked so hard to improve tonight. They performed the Cha Cha. It was to “Blue”. Scott loved this song as a kid and so he got to relive a happy memory. The joy came through with this dance tonight because he was an overall improvement from last week. Their Cha Cha wasn’t one of the best, but improvement was the name of the game.

They scored three sixes. It left them with an eighteen out of thirty. That and the fanbase came through for them. It didn’t come through for everyone else. It was a double elimination tonight. Unfortunately, the two teams going home were Baron and Brit and Corey and Jenna.

THE END
