General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) could dump Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) once their love story takes a wrong turn. Will a romantic reset bring some new partner possibilities for Carly?
The show’s been investing in Carly and Brennan’s relationship for a while now, but things just changed big time due to an abrupt recast.
We’re all trying to keep open minds and give McKenna an opportunity to win us over, but there’s no denying that this feels weird.
Chris McKenna is a good-looking guy and a solid actor, but he’s about as far from Charles Mesure’s Brennan as you can get.
There’s nothing about McKenna’s version that feels even remotely like the character that Jack Brennan fans have been getting to know in recent months.
For many viewers, this recast news has affected their view of Carly and Brennan as a couple, too.
Again, we want to give McKenna some time to settle in, but fans are really missing the sizzle that Wright had on-screen with Mesure right now.
If the situation doesn’t improve, we could certainly see the show shifting away from Brennan and Carly as a pairing.
Carly could be given a different love story instead – whether it be a reunion with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), another chance with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) or even a romance with someone new.
Whatever the case, nothing is set in stone – especially now that Mesure is out and McKenna is in. It’s too early to make any predictions on whether Carly and Brennan have a long-term future as a couple.
At the very least, Brennan and Carly may break up for a while just for plot-related reasons.
Now that Brennan seems to be grooming Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to be part of the very dangerous WSB organization, Carly could certainly dump him over that.
Brennan and Carly might be able to overcome this hurdle eventually, but the show could also use it to put the final nail in this couple’s coffin.
It all depends on whether GH writers are going to move forward with Carly and Brennan’s future together.
Once Carly gets updates on Brennan’s hush-hush efforts to recruit Josslyn, that may be a dealbreaker. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) has already been trying to warn Carly about Brennan’s secrets, so she may wish she’d listened!
