General Hospital (GH) recap for Thursday, September 25, reveals that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) stole the show at Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) funeral after Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) canceled her speech.
At the church before the memorial service, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) came early and gave Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) a hug along with some extra support.
Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) was also at the church making preparations, so Elizabeth was glad Jason had him to lean on, too.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) were all there ahead of the funeral.
After Chase exited to meet up with Michael, Ned confirmed that he had Monica’s letter in his pocket.
Tracy came downstairs wondering why everyone was standing around since they needed to get the ball rolling and go say their goodbyes to Monica.
Back at the church, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) shared some heartfelt words with Jason while Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) did the same during her conversation with Michael.
Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) also extended their sympathy once they arrived.
At GH, Martin Grey (Michael E, Knight) found Drew all dressed up, so Drew asked for help with his tie.
Although it was too soon for Drew’s release and his family didn’t want him at the church, Drew was adamant about attending Monica’s memorial.
Drew reflected on Monica accepting him as her son and regretted not answering when she reached out recently.
Now that Monica had passed on, Drew wasn’t going to let his anger toward the Quartermaine clan stop him from bidding his mother farewell.
However, Martin questioned if Drew was really focused on Monica or just intent on messing with his family.
At the church again, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) and Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) all showed up to pay their respects to Monica.
Ned kicked off the service with a speech and eventually pulled out a letter that Monica had left for him to read.
Monica didn’t want this to be a sad day since she’d lived a good life full of love. Elizabeth and Laura also made speeches, but Tracy skipped the one she was supposed to make.
Lucy thought maybe Tracy just needed more time to gather her courage, so she gave an impromptu speech of her own.
Jason surprised everyone by speaking next, so he talked about Monica’s patience when he pushed her away and what a wonderful mom she’d been.
However, Tracy still couldn’t bring herself to get up and speak, so she pushed Michael to go ahead and wrap the memorial up.
It had been decided earlier that Michael’s speech would be the last one.
As Michael tried to finish off the service, Drew suddenly rolled up in his wheelchair and left Michael fuming along with the other guests.
