In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Skip tracer Randy needed Bailey’s help. He was in love. He fell in love with Chastity Sneed. She was Peter’s girlfriend and Peter was both Nolan’s brother and Bailey’s brother-in-law. She couldn’t help Randy help steal away Peter’s girlfriend. Bailey tried to use work as an excuse.
She said she and her husband would be late to work if they didn’t get a move on. Only Randy was willing to pay the couple a hundred grand for ten minutes of their time. He said someone paid him with a bitcoin wallet years ago. He thought it was junk and he just got around to checking it. He was now worth about a hundred million dollars in bitcoin.
He calls himself a billionaire because it rhymes better.
Randy was still rich. The couple also needed a new roof and so they couldn’t turn down his offer. They both gave him ideas on gifts. Randy thought those ideas sucked and he tracked down Lucy. Lucy was riding with Celina that day. They were both young and women. Randy begged them for help.
They tried to tell him that women just want to be listen to. He heard them. Then he ignored them. He showed up at Chastity’s strip club while she was practicing with a bunch of gifts. This included diamonds. He also proposed to her before he even asked her out.
Chastity tried to be kind. She reminded him that she was with Peter. She was going to turn him down until he mentioned he’s worth millions and so that’s when Chastity needed to think about things.
She just couldn’t marry him. She turned that offer down right away. She instead suggested a sugar daddy situation. She also needed to clear it pass Peter. She was willing to be non-exclusive with Randy and that was enough for him. He was leaving the strip club when two men showed up and tried to rob him.
They didn’t have guns thankfully. They were armed with knives and so Randy easily handled them on his own. Nolan also showed up. Nolan had been on the phone with Randy when Randy was nearly stabbed.
He also was on the phone with Chastity when she later got kidnapped. Randy bragging about being worth millions at a strip club was the worst thing he ever did. Now people were coming out of every crevice to rob him. They couldn’t get to him and they did the next best thing. They grabbed the woman he was hopelessly in love with.
If everyone wasn’t trying to involve Nolan in the messy situation, he’d never know about these things. Or got involved in solving a string of crimes. Nolan’s brother agreed to the sugar daddy thing as long as he got a Porsche out of the deal. He was fine with sharing Chastity.
It was Chastity that still had reservations. She called Nolan seeking advice. Nolan was considered the dad that many of these people did not have and wished they had. They often turn to him for help. Nolan tries as kindly as he can when he tells them he doesn’t want to be involved and they still involve him.
It worked in this case because he knew about Chastity being in danger. He needed backup to track her down. This normally would have interested Angela and Nyla, but the detectives were busy with a different case. Nyla’s mother had been defrauded of her house. Ruth joined a Facebook group. It was called “We Love Old Houses”.
They were encouraged to post photos of their houses and that’s how she met her new friend Priscilla. Priscilla ran the group. She offered to help Ruth put her house in a trust. And sadly Ruth signed documents without reading it.
The documents weren’t to put the home in a trust. Ruth basically signed over her home to Priscilla. She was finding out about it now because Priscilla was evicting her. Ruth was too trusting.
She always has been. She didn’t prepare Nyla for life. Nyla had to figure out the cruelty of the world when she went into it. Nyla also didn’t know that Ruth was best friends with Emilia, Angela’s mother. Emilia didn’t know about the con. She also wanted to support her friend. Emilia agreed to pretend Angela’s house was hers to capture Priscilla.
They lured Priscilla to the house. Emilia caught the woman claiming that she was putting the house in a trust. She stated Emilia would get to stay on in her home and that’s not what the documents stated.
Priscilla was arrested for fraud. Ruth might even be able to get her house back. Angela took enough time to help her husband who was caught in a moral dilemma only her focus was on stopping Priscilla once and for all. The thing with Wes was the fact that he was trying a case against a member of the Eastern Front.
The guy beat someone to death in front of witnesses. His gang didn’t want to give up on him. They paid for a wealthy lawyer. They also tried to blackmail Wes’s boss who was running for District Attorney.
Sean De La Monte has a son about to go off to college. Logan gets good grades. He thought Logan was doing good and it turns out he has a secret drug problem. Eastern Front recorded him taking drugs. They were hoping to blackmail Sean into dropping the charges and Wes convinced him not to do it.
Sean was taking Logan to rehab when Eastern Front shot up his car. He returned fire. He killed one of the men and the other was captured. Only Logan was shot. Sean rushed his son to the hospital and he was saved with the help of surgery. The whole thing showed Sean that he couldn’t become District Attorney.
He was dropping out of the race. He was going to focus on his family. There was going to be a press conference. LAPD was going to go after the Eastern Front with their full force now that they’re targeting prosecutors.
It also turns out Randy could make things worse. He paid the ransom. They demanded five million that he paid in five minutes. They then demanded ten million.
They were going to keep getting money until they couldn’t use Chastity anymore and had to kill her. So, Randy said he’d pay that amount to anyone that aides in the recovery of Chastity. He posted it in a video online. The bounty hunters soon flooded the city. The kidnappers sent a proof of life video to show to Randy to get him to pay them and Chastity used sign language to indicate where she was.
She was being held in an abandoned mall. There was just one around. The cops headed there and Chastity had already rescued herself. The men that grabbed her were really dumb.
They stopped paying attention to her after the video. They didn’t know how crafty she could be and so she easily escaped. Now capturing the kidnappers was an issue what with all the bounty hunters though no civilian was harmed in the mall battle that followed. Chastity was fine. She reunited with Randy who felt bad about putting her in that position.
Randy also forgot his password to the bitcoin account. He no longer had sugar and so he couldn’t be Chastity’s sugar daddy. Before he lost access to his money, he did get a three hour meeting for Tim with his favorite baseball player as thanks for finding Chastity. And so some good came out of this.
And Lucy was officially a Sergeant now that she passed her exam, but the only open spot was on the night shift.
