In tonight’s The Voice episode up first was the third round of the Battles was Team Snoop. Makenzie and Lauren were battling each other. Both of them were one chair turns for Snoop. Snoop heard something that inspired him. He loved these two ladies and they showed their talent tonight with “Before He Cheats”.

Lizzo also helped them sell the story. The two women came up with the idea of performing it like a duet rather than openly compete against each other. They were both mad at the same man. He cheated on the both of them and this was their revenge.

It was a great storytelling. The ladies knew how to sell it just right. They put on such a great show that was it a shocker that the other judges hadn’t turned them. They slept on these two talents. Lauren has a growl. Makenzie has a country twang. They both brought it and unfortunately there could only be one winner. Snoop named Lauren as the winner of this battle. Makenzie was eliminated. Reba regretted using up her one Steal because she would have liked to have had Makenzie on her team.

Next up was Aarik and Max from Team Michael. The two of them teamed up a bit by accident although Aarik knew that Max’s age didn’t determine his talent. Max was fourteen. He also played a young Michael Jackson on Broadway. He knows exactly what his voice is capable of and he can lean into it. Aarik was older. His voice was more relaxed. His voice sounds amazing. It just wasn’t gelling with Max’s voice at first. They were singing “Just The Two Of Us” as a solo and what would make it great was if it was sung as a duet.

Michael felt that way. Kelsea felt that way. They needed to harmonize because that’s what the song calls for. Keslea liked Aarik’s runs at the start. She asked him to keep them. Max needed to lean into that relaxed atmosphere that Aarik was setting up. They told him as much and he did so at the final performance. They were both perfection. They were also truly generous with each other. Michael felt there was no right choice here because they both deserved to stay. He forced to name a winner and Michael named Max as the winner.

Next up was Team Niall. Ava was battling with Aiden. The A Team. Niall also decided to be a little self-indulgent with this pairing. He admitted as much. He gave them literally his own song. They were performing “What A Time”. He said it was the song he thought of when he thought of pure Pop. That’s what the two contestants are. They were glad that Niall trusted them with this song. They didn’t see it as bad or an ego trip and that’s what Niall was afraid it would come across as. He chose the song because of the emotions involved.

Niall remembered performing this with Julia. Julia cried each time she performed this song because of the emotions involved. He asked these two contestants to find that place for them. They were both really scarily good. Niall and Lewis said they could start off smaller because that way they could keep building until the end. Aiden’s falsetto and Ava’s richness made this the best performance. Everyone also wanted them to date after this because they really sold that duet. Niall had a tough time picking a winner and he chose to go with Aiden.

Niall then used his Save to try and keep Ava. Snoop also used his Steal because he wanted her as well. Ava could choose to stick with Niall or she could transition to Snoop’s team. Mind you the commercial break came in at the exactly that moment because the show wanted to drag out the angst. Ava ended up sticking with Niall. She picked him the first time and he deliberately held onto his Save just for her. She couldn’t ignore that. Niall’s team was really shaping up to be something special.

Team Reba finally got a turn. Manny and Leyton were paired off for this one. Manny’s tone was what grabbed Leyton’s attention. She remembered hearing him during his auditions and thinking “I hope I get to sing with this guy”. Its why she asked him if they could pair off. She felt so happy that he said yes. They were both Country. Leyton has a twang that’s completely natural with her singing. It also came off really well with the song they were given. They were given “Think I’m in Love with You”. It matched both of their voices perfectly.

Even their rehearsals were flawless. Reba called them stylists. She said that hearing them on radio would have everyone knowing exactly who they were. They knew how to arrange the song to fit the both of them. They each got to shine. Manny went up a higher octave than anyone would expect. He maintained his growl for the lower register. She could only name one winner. First, she named Leyton as the winner of her battle. She then went on to a second battle that sadly wasn’t covered as much as it could have been. And the winner of the second battle was Conrad.

Emannuel and Mindy’s battle was up next. Their styles are different. They chose each other because they made eye contact while everyone was teaming up and the rest is history as they say. They quickly became friends. They now have a siblings bond. So much so that Mindy convinced Emmanuel to sing Country. They performed a duet of “Angel from Montgomery”. The song was really a better fit for Mindy because she was Country. This battle was hers to lose because her voice was stellar. She just needed out of the headspace a little.

Emannuel also got to show off the versatility. He threw in some rasp that many said felt like Justin Bieber. He added some Spanish. Together with Mindy, they did Team Snoop proud. They gave a great performance. It didn’t even sound like it was someone else’s song. It felt like Mindy’s record because it was in her wheelhouse only she didn’t show range as Emmanuel did. Emmanuel showed range and still the song felt like it belonged to Mindy. Snoop made his judgement based solely on tonight. And he felt Mindy was the winner.

Carolina got her chance to battle with Kirbi. Their energies matched when they were choosing partners. They were Team Niall. Niall chose Lauren Daigle for them. She crosses over genres which was what they were doing. Carolina was Folk. Kirbi was Country. “You Say” was a perfect for them. Kirbi was singing to God and Carolina was singing to her dad. Both have battled with insecurity. Carolina’s dad was always there for her. Kirbi’s faith never wavered. They were so great in rehearsals that they had everyone in tears.

Their final performance was much the same. Niall’s team was literally on fire tonight. They had Reba in tears. She said “Oh My God, that’s fire”. They were both so good. Niall really should have held onto his Save for one of them. He used it and now he was losing out. The winner of this battle was Kirbi. Then Snoop came swooping in with his Steal to get Carolina. Carolina loved Niall, but Snoop saw her light and was willing to nurture it.

THE END!
