The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Friday, August 29, reveals that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will score a ring and plan an engagement dinner for Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) while Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) admits his real scheme.
At Society, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) will try to pump the brakes on Kyle’s proposal plan, but he’ll be determined to pop the question and prove his love for Claire.
In fact, Kyle will meet with the Abbott family jeweler soon after and select a ring that he’s sure Claire will love.
We’ll see Kyle brimming with confidence as he hopes to select wedding bands soon, too.
Next on Friday’s Y&R episode, Claire will open up to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and wonder how she’s supposed to move forward with Kyle now.
Nikki will push Claire to take some time to decide, but she’ll also bring her personal history with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) into this.
Victor has certainly made his fair share of mistakes and decisions that Nikki didn’t like, but Nikki can count on his love.
Claire will acknowledge that Kyle is a good man and appreciate Nikki’s perspective on things.
Nikki will also give Claire the junior position at Newman publishing, which is being folded into Chancellor.
The goal will be for Claire to run it one day just like Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) did, so Claire will be touched.
Later, Claire will bump into Kyle at Crimson Lights, so he’ll hate all the tension between them.
Kyle will push for a chance to prove Claire can trust him again and will want to talk things out over dinner.
Claire will accept the invitation, so Kyle will secretly look forward to springing that ring and a marriage proposal on her.
Back at Society, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will give Jack and Diane updates on Cane claiming that he’s ditching his takeover plans, but he won’t believe Cane and will still plan to go after Chancellor regardless.
On Cane’s train, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will refuse to let Cane pull the rug out from under her.
Cane will insist he has to focus on repairing the damage with his kids right now, so Phyllis will argue that the plan’s on hold rather than canceled.
However, Cane will push Phyllis to move on and will offer to make some business calls to help her out.
Phyllis will want to stick with Cane’s GC domination plot instead and will be willing to take all the heat.
After Phyllis says she can be the vulture, she’ll push for the details of Cane’s plan so she can take the next steps.
Phyllis will keep insisting she can do all the dirty work while Cane’s hands stay clean, but he won’t be able to give her an answer right now.
When Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) shows up, Phyllis will push her to talk some sense into Cane.
Amanda will speak with Cane privately and wonder if his decision to bail on his takeover goals is legit.
Cane will admit his new plan is for Billy and Phyllis to spread the news about him backing off, which will give him a chance to fix things with the twins.
While the spotlight is off Cane, he’ll vow to make his move and will add that it’ll be one nobody expects.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Cane’s hidden agenda could lead to trouble, so stay tuned.
