There were people that clean up after a crime scene has been cleared by the police. They were the aptly named Crime Scene Cleaners. The two tonight worked for a company called BioZone Cleaning. The owner of said company put out a ten thousand reward for anyone with information on her missing employee, Margo Webster.

The last time anyone saw Margo was two days before. She cleaned up a scene where two elderly died of natural causes. It was one after the other type of situation. Margo loves this stuff. She gets really into it when the scene is grislier than expected.

Margo has a hobby. She was a true crime buff. She was seeing a guy that she bonded with over the Toy Box Killer. Her boss thought it was weird. Margo thought it was sweet. She never revealed the new guy’s name only she was very secretive when she wasn’t too interested in work. She has a backup phone.

The second phone was found in her car that was abandoned by the side of the road. Colter later found it when he took the job. He spoke to Margo’s boss who was upset this case wasn’t being taken seriously.

Margo was an adult woman. She’s been missing for two days. The authorities figured that she was on a bender or purposely ignoring her boss. What they didn’t count on was a body suddenly showing up. Margo’s second phone was in frequent contact with a burner phone. Randy got an address for the burner phone.

He sent it to Colter and Colter arrived to see that the cops were swarming the place. They found a body of a young woman. Colter tried asking if it was Margo. They just told him to stay behind the yellow tape.

Colter did get to see the body when they were loading her up to put in the van. It wasn’t Margo. It was a blonde woman who didn’t have the same facial mark as Margo did. Colter noticed someone was watching the scene and even taking photos. They drove off the second Colter came close. Colter followed him back to a bunker.

The man he followed was Gunther. His friend Eddie was also there. They didn’t harm Margo. They were her friends. They knew Margo was missing and they were looking for her.

It’s why they showed up when they heard on their police scanner that a young woman was found. They thought it could be Margo. They were relieved when it wasn’t and they feared what they might have gotten involved in. They were true crime buffs. They investigated any scenes that Margo flagged as being suspicious. The cops weren’t interested in what they had to say. They frequently asked the group to go away and they couldn’t because they suspected people had been murdered. And Margo thought something was off at the last crime scene.

Margo documents everything at a scene. She noticed something was off. The Hardens were this elderly couple that lived alone. They were perfect targets for a killer. One was a caregiver and the other was confined to a bed. Colter went back to the house. He brought along Eddie and Gunther. They have their own police database that they’ve building. They would know what Margo saw. They went through the crime scene. Colter determined that the Hardens had been murdered. The husband was dragged up the stairs before someone threw him down it.

There were also signs that someone watched the bedbound wife slowly die. It was cruel. It was sadistic. It was also methodical because the person watched that poor woman die over a course of days. It indicated that the killer liked watching these people suffer and odds are he didn’t know them well enough to judge. Colter also noticed something that the guys didn’t. There was a heart with angel wings on the wall. Gunther had seen that before. He checked his database. It was found at various crime scenes that always involved a caregiver and someone the family member they were taking care of.

The known victims all have one connection. They always took their loved ones to the Vorhees Physical Therapy office. There was even a flier up with the same insignia that Colter saw at the house. It was a flier about two dying in another supposed accident. The person that made the flier was Francis. He worked at the office and he put up the flier. He was also the killer. Francis was doing all of this because of his mother and brother. His brother was bedbound. His mother used to devote such care to the brother while Francis got nothing. And so he killed them both.

They disappeared over twenty years ago with no one the wiser. Francis claimed to Margo that he was helping people. He was stopping their suffering when really he got off on punishing them because mommy didn’t give him the attention he always craved. Francis kept Margo alive because he wanted to use her to find her partners. He didn’t want them coming to the same conclusion that she did – that there was a serial killer on the loose. Colter soon guessed what he was planning by keeping Margo alive.

He found the mummified bodies of Francis’s family. He noticed that he was feeding Margo. Which meant he was holding onto her for a reason and so Colter tried to warn the guys that a serial killer heading their way. They weren’t picking, but luckily Colter arrived before Francis could kill either of them. He saved their lives. He stabbed Francis. He also saved Margo. Margo called 911. The cops finally showed up and Margo’s boss even paid Colter for finding Margo. It all worked out. Francis was going away for a long time.

All thanks to a trio of armchair detectives who were available to consult in the future.

Colter also had Randy digging through the files that his brother sent him. It involved a David Pearson and Colter was all over it.

THE END!
