On tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, this couple was thinking of buying a house. They couldn’t afford a new place. They got a fixer upper thinking it would cost less and it needed too much work. The contractor went as far as to fire them. He even offered to give them a full refund because he said that house was a death trap.
They pushed ahead in spite of the contractor’s warnings and as it happens watching HGTV doesn’t turn someone into an electrician. The poor guy shocked himself. His fiancé called 911. They got the 118. They turned off the power. They got the shocked man in rhythm again. He’ll live, but he also wants to burn down that house for the insurance money now.
It was quite a day for everyone. There was an incident at the dispatch center. Sue was the manager there. She had a stroke while on the job and so Maddie called for an ambulance.
Sue just had dinner at her place. She seemed fine at the time. Chimney thought as well. He asked Buck if he noticed anything off and Buck was so busy trying to hide the fact he got out of therapy by going over to his sister’s that he said whatever Chimney wanted to hear. Buck was recently abducted. He was tortured and almost killed. He needed to go to therapy.
Buck has been down this route before. He knew therapy was there to help him. He was just ignoring everyone telling him to go because he said he didn’t want to think about what happened to him. He wanted to move on. He thought by pushing ahead that he could do so. Yet the mind doesn’t work like that.
He needed to do the work in order to properly move on. It would haunt him otherwise. Buck was able to ignore most of his issues with the help of work. They kept getting called out to the fixer upper house constantly. The guy had a nail in his head. The lady got her hand stuck in the toilet.
The final straw seemed to be when he accidentally shot the nail gun into his groin. The first time with the nail gun was his fiancé’s fault and the groin one was his.
The 118 has been to their house so many times that they ended up getting invited to the wedding. If it happens that it. The house really was trying to kill them.
The couple were fighting all the time because of it so there’s a chance they don’t make it. Renovations and weddings are two big things that both lead to a breakup if not handled properly.
Maddie in the meantime visited Sue at the hospital with Josh. Sue needed to nominate someone to fill in for her. Everyone thought it would be Josh. Josh thought it would be him too.
Sue instead gave the job to Maddie. Maddie tried to talk to Josh about it and he said he quits. Maddie was hoping that he just took a break. She tried to be the boss for a day. It was grueling. It wasn’t worth the pay raise. She also stepped in on someone’s else call because she was still in that mode rather than managerial.
Josh trained Maddie. He’s been Sue’s right hand man for years. He should’ve gotten the job and the reason Sue didn’t give it to him because he cared too much. She knew he’d break his back trying to do everything the way Sue did. Until it destroyed him. Sue didn’t want that for him.
She picked Maddie because Maddie knew the job and she would do things her way. Not anyone else’s. Maddie had big shoes to fill and time will tell if she fits into them. Mae sorta had a similar situation because she wanted to go into law like her mom.
Only Mae wanted to be a lawyer. She was applying for an internship that turned into a field trip. She went to the hospital with the lawyer she wanted to work with and she saw the sheriff’s department was hassling the doctors over taking blood sample from a unconscious patient.
Mae knew what the deputies were doing was illegal. She stepped into the matter and destroyed the blood sample because she said it didn’t matter without a warrant. She still got herself arrested. Her mom bailed her out. And she lost out on the job because she allegedly made the matter about herself.
It’s supposed to be about the client. The law has rules. It’s like everything else in life. Gabi said as much to Mae because she was an old friend of Athena’s and felt she should respect Athena enough to tell Mae to her face what she did wrong. So, the mistake wasn’t repeated down the line.
Mae came to see that for herself when Gabi had drinks at her mom’s place. They talked and it made sense. There was also no wedding at satan’s house. The couple let it all burn down and they also broke up. They’ll hopefully put the whole thing behind them.
Buck also wasn’t as good as he pretended to be. He was taking pills to feel better and that could be a slippery slope.
And Josh came back to work as Maddie’s second in command with Sue out.
THE END!
