It was the final night of the Quarterfinals! They’ve even made it an extra long episode. It was 3 hrs and that’s because the results were live. They had never done that before.

They were trying out something new. Tonight was also special in another way. This was the final hurdle before the Semifinals. Simon was still out and so Heidi Klum returned as their guest judge to fill in for him. The host was still as funny as ever. And she was having fun with Sofia who received the ultimate power of the Golden Buzzer.

It technically wasn’t fair because she stole it from Kenan Thompson last week. He was going to press the buzzer all the same, but it should go to another guest judge now that Sofia already has had her turn.

It didn’t end up mattering because the night was full of talent. Up first was Young & Strange. They were competing magicians twenty years ago until one day they decided to collaborate.

They’ve now been a magical duo for the past sixteen years. They have an added element of comedy to their magic. They practiced a very physical side of magic so it had everyone in stitches.

They managed to wrap magic around the joke of being unable to measure properly. They were British. They thought in meters over feet or inches. Everyone thought they should get the Golden Buzzer. It was Sofia who said she couldn’t hand it to the first act she saw because what about everyone that came afterwards.

Well, up next was her Golden Buzzer from the Auditions. Lara D is a singer. She was a young singer. She has a very adult voice. It just didn’t wow Sofia like it did before. The camera went to Sofia and she was looking elsewhere besides the stage.

She appeared bored as well as snacking. Lara performed “Lost My Mind In Paris”. She made the song in her own. She stepped it up with Mel B. She was amazing with Howie.

It was just Sofia who funnily enough wasn’t singing her praises and that’s because that moment captured everything that needed to be said. Sofia wasn’t in into it. She lied that she enjoyed it and that honesty was tested when she again refused to hand out the Golden Buzzer. She once again said it was too early in the show to hand it out. As if that would’ve stopped her if she truly enjoyed what she saw.

Next up was Rubén Roldán. He was an acrobat. He was also doing all of his stunts on one leg. He was an amputee and everyone could clearly see how he never let that slowed him down. He was an amazing acrobat. He turned the whole studio into a stage. He wasn’t afraid. He wasn’t slowed down. He only showed nerves after the performance because he wanted that confirmation he did well. Mel told him to be more confident because he was incredibly talented only led to a minor spat with Howie who questioned her question.

Heidi enjoyed it. Howie enjoyed it. Sofia still withheld her Golden Buzzer, but that could be because it was still early in the night or maybe she was looking for something she hasn’t found yet. Cameron Logsdon was up next. He was the voice impressionist. He became a dad at sixteen. They kinda grew up together because they were watching the same cartoons at first. His son was now in college so here was a chance to pursue his brand of comedy. He wowed early in the season. Tonight he pulled out a Robert DeNiro. The actor was funny. Its just too easy. It was an easy go to that everyone does.

Cameron should’ve aimed a little higher. He eventually did so thanks to feedback from the audience. with him, Sofia was her most honest. She told him where he went wrong and that she much preferred his audition. It was the same for Mel. Howie then chose to needle his costar. It took the attention off of him and he didn’t go to bat for him or was as complimentary as even Heidi. Heidi said she laughed. She just didn’t get the deep belly laugh she was hoping for. It was a nice way of saying he didn’t have her laughing enough.

Next up was Bird and Byron. The two friends were a singer and his guitarist. The one criticism they’ve always gotten was to keep your eyes open and on the audience while performing. The singer sometimes got too caught up in the moment that he closed his eyes. They performed “You Stole the Show”. It was a beautiful rendition. People could still tell how much that one guy just wanted to close his eyes. He was far more confident with them close than open. He didn’t hit all those notes. Mel caught that and she said she was still rooting for them because she thinks they’re great.

Great if taken in all together. The performances all throughout season and not just tonight. Anyways, next up was Tyrone & Margo. They have a danger act. They threw knives and shot arrows at each other. They sometimes did that blindfolded too. It was super dangerous. America definitely shouldn’t try doing any of those things at home. They upped their game tonight. They made it even more dangerous. They pulled off daring stunt after daring stunt. They were freaking great. Sofia genuinely looked conflicted about the Golden Buzzer with them. She hadn’t with anyone else.

The judges all loved them. They would’ve been perfect for the Golden Buzzer. It was such a shame that they missed out on them. The next act was literally a clown act. Howie gave it a name. He then tried to argue about the name with literally every other judge. No one was disagreeing with him by the way. Cesar Dias was a singer/comedy act. He has a great voice. He also does bits on stage where he gets hurt or embarrassed. He acts like its not part of his routine when it is. And it makes all the more funnier.

Cesar was fun. He was lighthearted pure entertainment. Not sure how he felt about being called a clown. He wasn’t sure if that was good or bad at first. Howie kinda ate up the time with his antics. Luckily, he doesn’t get to decide who moves forward. America does. America was voting for their favs all night long. Next up was Unitree. They were sorta a dance group. Its simply half of their numbers were comprised of robots. They performed an unique routine tonight that had everyone enthralled.

It was only Sofia who was a little freaked out by the robots. She’s seen the movies. She knows what they’ll eventually do. She was apprehensive when she ultimately chose to cave into public pressure and she pressed the Golden Buzzer for Unitree. They had been amazing. The skill to program the robots alone had impressed everyone. They earned that buzzer. May they continue to be in charge of those things! They were followed by Travis Garland. He’s a singer. He says don’t let get it to your head when you’re up and don’t let you get to heart when you’re down.

He’s been on the road this far because he still wants to make it as a solo artist. He doesn’t want to stop at being an opening act. Travis performed “Dangerous Woman”. Only he flipped things around. He turned it into his own song with his own version of the famous lyric and he impressed everyone with his voice. He got a standing ovation from being so amazing. His voice was a standout. It would’ve earned a Golden Buzzer if it had gone ahead of Unitree or if Sofia wasn’t in charge of it. Sofia was the only one that didn’t seem blown away by his talent.

What was up with her tonight? Next up was Akira. Akira was considered a novelty act. He gets naked and usually hide his genitals behind photos, maps, signs, and tonight a swinging pendulum. It was so silly that it was funny. Mel naturally hated it. She was quick to that reject button. Heidi also didn’t seem to care for a photo of her face covering him up. The last of the night was Jesse Joe. He’s a singer. He’s also got presence and energy. His voice wasn’t the best tonight. It was still pretty good and that along with his body of work had him up there with America.
