On tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Lucy was hired to be Pascal’s assistant. Only he got fired. Lucy stuck around hoping to keep the job. She became Severide’s assistant as he studied for the captain exam.

He took a week off to study without distractions. It left Kidd as the highest ranked lieutenant in the office. Lucy then became her temporary assistant. Kidd just didn’t think she needed one and so she ruined Lucy’s plan to be seen working. Lucy was fighting for her career here. Kidd didn’t notice because her mind was elsewhere. Kidd and her team later got called to a scene.

There was a young man who got into a car accident. His car slipped on the road and accidentally drove over wet concrete. The contractor didn’t do their due diligence.

They should’ve checked the weather report before they poured the concrete. It was a wet and snowing day. The driver in the accident was also clearly lying when he said he had been in the car alone. There were genuine footprints in the concrete showing that the other person fled. It was only the driver that kept swearing he was in the car alone.

The car was a smart car. It too said there was a passenger. They checked and there was a book bag on the floor in the passenger side. That could read as a passenger. Maybe? They weren’t too sure and the driver having a mild concussion led them to believing maybe he forgot about the passenger.

Kidd and Vasquez visited Adam later on at the hospital. They asked about a passenger again. This time it was clear to them that he was lying. He did everything possible to get them out of the room. He claimed a headache. He said he needed more pain meds. He guilt tripped them into leaving.

The firefighters didn’t care about him. They wanted answers because the passenger could be injured. There were a lot of injuries that didn’t show up right away. They needed to be checked out by a doctor or at least a paramedic. Lying just shows that Adam had something to hide.

The firefighters had to leave because they were still on call. They ran drills. Lucy was the one who chased down the bag in the car. She found it and it identified a teenage girl as Claire as being the passenger.

Kidd and Vasquez went to go talk to her, but Lucy kept pulling off more miracles. She managed to the heat back on by getting the facilities to fix it. She was great at her job. Violet felt she was too great at it. She’s never seen anyone get that much done before. Novak told her not to worry about it because in spite everything there were still good people out there. Take them.

Novak said they were both amazing. She still didn’t know that Violet had slept with Vasquez. Violet didn’t know that her partner had a crush on him so she ended things. And was doing her best to hide what happened.

Kidd and Vasquez found Claire. She left the scene because she was afraid it would affect her West Point admission. She just got in. It was her dream school. It’s where her father and grandfather went. She didn’t want to risk it nor did Adam. Adam was her best friend. He knew what a big deal getting into West Point was for her.

He told her to leave. She did and now Kidd was saying they still had to report what happened at the scene. Only Vasquez didn’t want her to. He’s been Claire. He was so focused on being a cop like his dad that he too walked around with the old man’s challenge coin.

The coin was to remind him to stay focused. It did the same with Claire who walks around with her dad’s coin. Anything could put that future at risk. Vasquez didn’t think they should take away Claire’s chance.

Adam felt the same. He stopped by the firehouse after they spoke to Claire. He wanted them to not ruin things for his friend and that’s when they noticed he was lying again. Adam wasn’t driving when they crashed. Claire was. The seatbelt injured Adam and it proved he was the passenger.

Adam was willing to lie for her because he doesn’t have a bright future. He was going to go work for his cousin who owned a pub. He wasn’t going to college. He wanted that for Claire.

Vasquez did it too until he heard she left the scene as the driver. Adam cared about that girl so much that he moved into the driver’s seat to fool everyone. He just couldn’t fool two firefighters. The kids needed to come clean and if they did then the worst they’ll get was a misdemeanor. It might still cost her West Point.

Herrmann was also asked to film a commercial for Uncle Larry. He struggled to remember his lines. He finally did and got it all in one shot. They just didn’t use it all for the commercial. They gave him the tagline instead. Which he felt was the biggest part so he’s not mad.

And Violet still hasn’t told Novak everything in spite getting a little warning from Kidd about secrets.

THE END!
